Suitcase damage — Fire and ice tourism — Experience nature actively

Over every mountain under your own steam. And a new world behind every pass. On a crossing of the Alps on foot, you not only discover new horizons, but also get to know yourself. Anyone who has ever enjoyed a week of simplicity and freedom will understand why crossing the Alps is booming like no other form of vacation. But where should the journey take you? Of course, the nature has to be spectacular, the culture along the way interesting. The route itself should not be too difficult. And ideally, a cozy hotel with excellent cuisine awaits the tired heroes in the evening. Sounds like our top tour called “On the pulse of the Alps”! It’s not just one crossing of the Alps, but three: in one week, it’s from Tegernsee to Kitzbühel, then from Kitz to the Dolomites and finally from the “Pale Mountains” to “La Serenissima”. All three parts of the trilogy have one thing in common: perfect organization and all-round carefree packages including luggage transfer from hotel to hotel and a comfortable return journey. Can you already hear the pulse of the Alps?

On the pulse of the Alps 1: From Tegernsee to Kitzbühel

We at Feuer und Eis Touristik come from Lake Tegernsee. So what could be more natural than starting a crossing of the Alps right on our doorstep? Which we did in 2018. Since then, thousands of happy hikers have followed us on our classic route from Tegernsee to Kitzbühel. “Our” original route leads — as the name suggests — directly to the pulse of the Alps. To the southern lakes of Munich, Tegernsee and Schliersee. To Kufstein, known as “the pearl on the Inn”. To the Bergdoktorhaus on the Wilder Kaiser. And finally to the “chamois town” of Kitzbühel with the famous Streif. In terms of walking times, altitude and technical difficulties, but also in terms of refreshment stops and overnight stays — on this Alpine cross on foot, we always write “enjoyment” in capital letters. On the six stages, hikers can expect between 11 and 23 kilometers and 300 to 1000 meters of altitude difference every day. And in the evening, you can look forward to a cozy three- or four-star hotel.

As befits our classic Alpine crossing, we have tailored the tour perfectly to every requirement. The route from Tegernsee to Kitzbühel is as varied in terms of scenery and culture as your options are varied: individually or guided by a certified mountain guide, with luggage transfer from hotel to hotel or without, and the CHARME option with particularly comfortable hotels in the 4*-5* category for the more discerning. One tour, countless possibilities for you!

Always included: In addition, we have automatically integrated the Feuer und Eis travel protection (accident and mountain rescue insurance) for you in the travel price and are always available for you (even on tour) via our 7‑day carefree service hotline!

On the pulse of the Alps 2: From Kitzbühel to the Three Peaks

If you arrive happily in Kitzbühel after this hiking week, one thing is certain: you will have saved countless unforgettable experiences. You may even have tasted so much Alpine crosser blood that you are magically drawn to a follow-up tour over the main Alpine ridge right into the heart of the Dolomites. To where the pulse of the Alps beats particularly strongly.

From Kitzbühel, home to Toni Sailer, Hansi Hinterseer and the painter Alfons Walde, you hike consistently south over the Gauxjoch and the Hartkaiser — to the main Alpine ridge in the Hohe Tauern National Park. At the “Venedigerblick” you can see “the world’s old majesty”, the Großvenediger, in all its white might. The area becomes increasingly rugged, the valleys deeper, the rock faces steeper, the flowers more magnificent. And in the distance, the vertical rock castles of the Dolomites are already shining.

But first you have to cross the historically interesting Gsieser Törl on the border between East and South Tyrol. Down in Dobbiaco, one of the most culturally interesting communities in South Tyrol awaits. And for the grand finale on the last day of the tour, you hike from the Auronzo hut around the world-famous Three Peaks.

The worthy conclusion to a memorable week of hiking. We offer this second leg of our classic Alpine crossing as an individual tour, as a guided tour and as a CHARME variant. No matter which option you choose, you can always rely on one thing: our many years of expertise!
