With this option, you hike independently and at your own pace, well provided with our detailed travel documents. The included luggage transfer gives you the opportunity to enjoy all stages with a light daypack.

Without Luggage Transfer
Our budget-friendly tour option does not include luggage transfer from stage to stage. Participants do not want to miss out on comfortable hotel accommodation and optimally prepared stage descriptions, but transport their luggage in their own rucksack and thus benefit from a lower tour price (rucksack option).

Fügen-Sterzing with luggage transfer
For all participants who prefer a shorter trip, we offer a section of the Tegernsee — Sterzing Alpine crossing. The last three stages from Fügen to Sterzing can be hiked in five days.

Accompanied by an experienced hiking guide, you can master the crossing of the Alps in a small group (max. 15 participants) without any worries. Here too, luggage transportation from hotel to hotel makes the hike easier.

In order to guarantee the best possible quality of service and program at an affordable price, most of our tours are based on a minimum number of participants, which is stated in the respective tour description.
The minimum number of participants does not have to be reached per booking, but per start date.
If we are unable to reach you, we will inform you of possible alternatives or cancellation at least 4 weeks before the start of the tour (see also GTC: feuer-eis-touristik.de/agb).
During the online booking process, you will also be asked about your dietary requirements. We will pass on this non-binding dietary request (vegetarian, vegan, lactose intolerance etc.) to all hotels. Please note that additional costs may have to be paid directly on site.
For all those crossing the Alps, there is a paid parking lot in Marienstein for approx. 35 EUR per week, located a little outside the tour start, as well as in the Kreuth district of Scharling for approx. 30 EUR. You will find detailed information on this in the travel documents, which will be sent to you approx. 2–4 weeks before arrival.
With all individual and guided “luggage transfer included” options, we transport your luggage conveniently from hotel to hotel.
This means you only hike with a light daypack and your suitcase will be waiting for you when you arrive at your next hotel (from 16:00 at the earliest). When you leave the hotel, leave your luggage at reception by 09:00 at the latest — our luggage transfer partner will then take it to your next accommodation.
Regular start without additional overnight stay at Lake Tegernsee:
We offer luggage transport to the first hotel on the day of arrival. Please drop off your luggage in the white Fire and Ice Alpine Crossing trailer at Gmund-Finsterwald station by 13:00 at the latest or, if you are arriving by car, in the trailer at the Marienstein parking lot. Unfortunately, it is not possible to drop off luggage after 13:00. In this case we ask you to transport your luggage to the hotel yourself.
If you have booked an additional overnight stay at Lake Tegernsee, e.g. in Gmund:
Please bring your luggage directly to the hotel you have booked on the day of your arrival; your luggage will be collected from the hotel the next day.
On our tours, only 1 piece of luggage per person weighing max. 20 kg is generally permitted. If the piece of luggage is heavier, we reserve the right to charge extra.
We are happy to offer the option of booking the transportation of additional pieces of luggage for EUR 40 per person.
You will receive all details on baggage drop-off and return as well as liability information in the event of baggage damage with your travel documents or at feuer-eis-touristik.de/gepaeckbestimmungen
For insurance reasons, we are unable to transport passengers with our luggage transfer service.
Please use public transport or a cab to get to the nearest hotel. We will be happy to assist you with the planning.
Yes, your four-legged friend is welcome on individual versions (without a guide) of the Crossing of the Alps on the route and in the hotels.
When booking, we require the breed and weight of your dog, which we will pass on to the hotels.
Any costs incurred are not included in the package price and must be paid by you on site at the hotel. You can expect to pay approx. 30 EUR per dog per night.

Yes, however, according to our general terms and conditions, cancellation costs are incurred for this, which are not normally reimbursed by travel cancellation insurance.
We also offer a “bad weather alternative” for some stages.
If a hike is not possible due to bad weather or snowfall, we recommend continuing to the next hotel by public transport.
In some cases, there are no hiking trails on the individual routes, which is why you would have to walk on or next to main roads. We therefore recommend using public transport.
In addition, the stage length/time has been calculated so that you do not arrive at the hotel too late due to public transport.
For all individual tours, without a guide, the costs are approx. EUR 65 per person
These costs are included in the guided tour option.
Yes, there are no via ferratas or exposed sections on this tour.
There is one exception on the third stage along Lake Achensee. There the hiking trail is up to one meter narrow and on the left side it goes downhill a few meters to the lake. It is possible to bridge this part of the stage by boat across the Achensee to the Gaisalm.
The routes of the Alpine Crossing are very well signposted with an “Ü”.
You will receive detailed route descriptions including bad weather alternatives, bus/train departure times and maps with your travel documents.
We will also send you GPS data for your trip.
On request, we offer you the option of booking a double room for triple occupancy. Please note that this is not a fully-fledged 3‑bed room and the third sleeping option is merely an extra bed or a sofa bed.
As soon as you have booked your trip, our travel specialists will start booking the hotels.
In order to ensure optimal organization, we wait for the individual confirmations from the hotels before we send you the booking confirmation.
After booking your trip, you can sit back and relax until you receive the booking confirmation within approximately two weeks.
For all our tours you can choose whether you want to pay by bank transfer or credit card.
Credit card payments are made via an external payment provider so that data protection regulations are complied with. As soon as the payment is due, you will receive a payment link from us by e‑mail.
As soon as you receive the booking confirmation/invoice by e‑mail, the deposit of 20% of the tour price is due.
The remaining 80% must be paid up to 4 weeks before arrival.

We need immediate written information from you if you have to cancel your trip for health reasons.
If you have travel insurance, you should go to the doctor at your current place of stay during your trip to obtain a medical certificate and have the costs of unused services reimbursed by your insurance company.

Exclusively with Feuer und Eis, you receive rescue cover for all our trips, which is already included in the package. This is travel accident insurance. Further information is attached to your booking confirmation or can be found here: feuer-eis-touristik.de/sorglos
We are in contact with numerous local partners. If very severe storms, snowfall etc. are reported and your tour is significantly affected, we will either inform you directly (e.g. by email) or your hotel will inform you of important changes for the day, e.g. at breakfast.
Our travel documents are provided once per room.

Subject to availability, you can rebook to our option including luggage transfer and half board, subject to our rebooking fees in accordance with our General Terms and Conditions.
