Björn Ahrndt from Bergparadiese.de, an experienced outdoor and tour author, tested the KAT Bike with an e‑mountain bike for us in September 2025. In this guest article, he takes you on the tour, shows you some wonderful views and gives practical tips for anyone who wants to pedal themselves in 2026.

The KAT BIKE E‑NJOY cycle tour is particularly aimed at leisure cyclists: wide, well-surfaced paths, comfortable accommodation and typical Tyrolean hospitality ensure a relaxed experience. Björn gives a personal insight into the stages, the scenic highlights and the special feeling of being on the road — and reveals what you should pay attention to in order to enjoy the tour to the full.

At the end of the article you will also find the link to the tour description and possible variants for different types of riders.

From fantastic views, trails & top accommodation

The fine gravel crunches under the wide tires of my mountain bike, while the drizzle from the low-hanging fog covers the lenses of my cycling glasses and the rest of my equipment. A new view awaits around every bend. Behind every ascent, a well-deserved descent. Sometimes the trees are shrouded in mist and the mountains are only dimly visible. Then a short breeze wipes the drizzle from my cycling goggles and the mist from the mountain slopes. And the colorful, lonely beauty of the Kitzbühel Alps is revealed.

It’s autumn in the Tyrolean mountains — the perfect time of year for an extended, multi-day bike tour. Not too hot, so that the uphill climbs don’t turn into torture. And not too cold that you don’t have to wrap up thick on the fast descents. The weather is usually very stable at this time of year. On today’s bike day, however, it is exceptionally moody. No problem — with the right equipment. And no problem — with the right bike. While I now enjoy the spectacularly beautiful Wiegalm trail down into the valley, I am still looking forward to a relaxing sauna and fresh clothes for the evening and tomorrow. Both are waiting in my next accommodation on this three-day tour through the Kitzbühel Alps.

By the way, I am currently on the second stage of the KAT BIKE E‑NJOY and am heading towards my stage finish in Oberndorf in Tyrol. Yesterday I started this perfectly organized bike tour in Angerberg near Wörgl. I still have a good 80 kilometers and around 1,800 vertical meters ahead of me before I reach my final destination in Fieberbrunn. However, I have already left the biggest and longest climb of the day behind me. Now only pure enjoyment awaits me and my mountain bike. On my e‑mountain bike, to be precise. Because that’s what the “E” in KAT BIKE E‑NJOY stands for.

The Wiegalm trail, which winds its way under my bike tires, is also part of the enjoyment on this panoramic tour. The trail is certainly the most challenging section of the entire KAT BIKE E‑NJOY. Of course, it requires a certain level of riding ability — after all, it is in the S1 to S2 range on the mountain bike single trail scale. But this trail is not necessarily part of today’s second stage. On the descent from the Wiegalm, I could also have chosen the relaxed option via the forest path. This also leads downhill on a wide forest and farm track — but with significantly fewer demands on the bike and rider.

Overall, the KAT BIKE E‑NJOY is definitely aimed more at pleasure-oriented cyclists than sporty downhill bikers — both in terms of the landscape and the route.

And the refreshment stops are also a pure delight. Typical Tyrolean hospitality — whether in the rustic huts or in the alleyways of the valley villages.

Alternatively, the sporty version of the KAT BIKE, which partly follows the same trails as the Wiegalm Trail across the Kitzbühel Grass Mountains, would be the perfect counterpart.

However, I think the KAT BIKE E‑NJOY is exactly the right choice for starting out on multi-day tours or just for pleasure riding.

Speaking of enjoyment: the accommodation also offers enjoyment and comfort. They ensure a good rest before the start of a stage and therefore optimal preparation for the day ahead. They are also perfectly equipped for cyclists — from bike garages and charging facilities to early breakfast times. Incidentally, cycling is one of my passions alongside hiking and mountaineering. However, so far I have been on one-day bike tours rather than multi-day tours — apart from my Allgäu bike tour, which I also did with Feuer und Eis Touristik.

Lots of luggage usually stops me from going on multi-day bike adventures. This makes the luggage transfer that I enjoy here on the KAT BIKE E‑NJOY all the nicer. After all, the rapidly changing weather in the mountains sometimes requires a lot of equipment. And always having to carry it with me is not really “my thing”. Thanks to the luggage transfer, however, I can adjust to the changing temperatures every day and start the stage with a light, suitable daypack. While I cycle lightly and relaxed towards my stage destination, my luggage is already waiting in my next accommodation. You can pack “a little more”.
So tomorrow I’ll swap my rain jacket for a T‑shirt. Because the forecast is for another one of those wonderful late summer days — with brilliant views of the Kitzbühel Alps and the Wilder Kaiser in the clear, fresh autumn air.

This third day of the stage is once again peppered with many wonderful kilometers under my mountain bike tires — 66 in number and over 1,600 metres in altitude . Tomorrow is the grand finale on the Buchensteinwand, where a view awaits me that is literally worth every crank! The Pillersee and the Weißbachschlucht gorge also await me before I finally make my way to Fieberbrunn via the well-known biathlon World Cup venue of Hochfilzen. But until then, I first enjoy today, which simply puts a big grin on my face despite the partly low-hanging fog and light drizzle. Even the lonely ascent up to the Wiegalm was a dream in the autumnal atmosphere. And now this exciting descent on the narrow yet flowing natural trail — it is definitely the crowning glory of today’s tour. It is definitely my personal highlight of today’s stage.

But this was not the only highlight on my three-day bike tour through the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps. Because what is already behind me has more than exceeded my expectations of the KAT BIKE tour. An easy beginners’ tour that combines great views on good roads and beautiful forest trails. Plus good signposting that makes it easy to find your way. And enough time during the day to stop, pause and take in the panorama. In short: a three-day bike tour over 3,600 meters in altitude. Spread over 163 kilometers, making every single day of the tour a pure pleasure.
