From the mouth of the River Lech on the Danube to the Lech Valley in Tyrol, the Lech Cycle Path leads through landscapes that could not be more different. Along its banks, you can see how it has shaped nature and created the most diverse habitats. From the leisurely river — with the enchanting riverside forests and gentle foothills of the Alps firmly in view — up into the mountains to the source of the Lech, you can enjoy inspiring moments.

Track condition

This is a moderately difficult cycle tour, mainly on well-maintained cycle paths and paved trails. A few passages with loose ground require attention, but can be mastered without any problems, whereby the tour was designed upstream and therefore a good basic level of fitness is recommended — unless you are on an e‑bike.

Service on the Lech cycle path

The Lech Cycle Path is signposted and marked throughout. In Germany, the signage corresponds to the logo shown here; in Tyrol, green signs with white lettering including kilometers indicate the route.

There are several service points along the Lech Cycle Path where you can have your bike repaired if it breaks down. You will receive an overview of these service points and e‑bike charging stations with your travel documents.

Sights along the Lech Cycle Path

Numerous sights along the route are well worth a visit — here is a small selection:

Route guidance

Cycle upstream towards Tyrol, with the Alps in your sights, so there are gradients to contend with. Sections of the Lech Cycle Path run on paths owned by water management companies and used by company vehicles that maintain the condition of the path. Therefore, always expect oncoming traffic, especially in blind bends. As the route runs close to the river, there may be temporary closures, obstructions and damage to the cycle path in the event of flooding. Please note the current information on our website and the information on closures and detour in your travel documents. In addition to stage descriptions and maps, you will also receive GPS data for use with mobile navigation devices / smartphone apps.
