The white of winter gives way and nature shines in new splendor. Lush green, the first spring flowers scattered like splashes of color, birdsong & warm air await connoisseurs. Snow-covered mountain peaks provide an attractive contrast. Longer days fuel the desire to be outdoors — whether on hiking tours, walks or bike rides. Exploring new regions is twice as much fun in spring. Whether on foot or by bike — we take you to the most beautiful lakes in Carinthia, hike through wild Tyrolean gorges, up panoramic peaks and feast on alpine pastures. And a very special meditation trail awaits in the Ammergau Alps.

Off to the mountains — spring is just around the corner

The contrast could not be greater at this time of year — green below and white above. Snow roses, liverworts and crocus take over in the forest. Everything smells fresh and earthy, birds are chirping and the warm air invites you to linger. It hums and buzzes — the sun caresses your skin. A bad mood evaporates with every step and breath outside. Close your eyes. Enjoy.

When the snow melts, waterfalls roar particularly loudly and even small streams roar more than usual. The first wild garlic — freshly picked on a walk by the stream — there’s no better way to feel spring. As a spread or pesto for at home, hmmmm. When spectacular gorges end their winter closure and invite you to explore them, you should seize the opportunity. As beautiful as they are on hot summer days, a visit in spring is still an insider tip and really recommended. For example, the wild and romantic Griesbachklamm gorge in the Kitzbühel Alps — an experience for young and old. This diverse and easily accessible Tyrolean region is ideal for star hikes — even with dogs.

You can already do a few laps on the cycle paths on an e‑bike. How about bikepacking along the Isar? From the ice-cold source near Scharnitz to the Bavarian Forest — bookable with us, of course, with convenient luggage transfer.

However, many forest trails and off-road routes are usually not open to e‑bikers until April. And when the refreshment stop beckons and the regional Almjausen delicacies are waiting to be enjoyed, there’s nothing to keep you inside anyway — is there?

But beware: even if spring has already arrived in the valley, there is usually still quite a bit of snow on the mountains. You should take this fact to heart and, depending on the altitude, choose tours that are south-facing or stay close to the valley. If the cable car takes you up the mountain in comfort, don’t underestimate the difference in temperature — a jacket, gloves and headband will always keep you warm — even in the nasty wind. And another important tip: crossing snowfields increases the risk of slipping and falling, so poles and Grödel poles should always be in your rucksack to be on the safe side.

Off to the south. It doesn’t always have to be the classic Lake Garda in spring — there is also a Mediterranean climate, lovely countryside, mountains and lakes galore on the border with Slovenia and Italy. The Austrian region of Carinthia not only boasts beautiful sunsets, but also crystal-clear lakes with bathing temperatures early in the year. First explore nature on an e‑bike and then dive into the warm waters of Lake Faak, Lake Ossiach or Lake Pressegg. Wellness, but of course.

Pilgrimages — our meditation trail in the Ammergau Alps

Switch off and find yourself — the best way to do this is by walking outside. The further the path, the easier. The hype surrounding pilgrimages shows no sign of abating, and the most popular routes in Europe are often overcrowded in the truest sense of the word. Italy, Spain, France — spoiled for choice. But you don’t have to travel that far, as there is an 85km-long meditation trail in the south of Bavaria that leads through the Ammertal valley. Recharging your batteries for life works automatically in this environment — sustainably and without a long journey.
