“Grüezi wohl”, tha­t’s how you are gree­ted in Switz­er­land. Howe­ver, the Alpi­ne coun­try stands out not only for its uni­que dialect, but also for its cul­tu­ral and scenic diver­si­ty. Most tou­rists pro­ba­b­ly asso­cia­te Switz­er­land as a vaca­ti­on desti­na­ti­on with a uni­que moun­tain pan­ora­ma, but the­re are also breath­ta­king lakes to mar­vel at and one or two famous cities to explo­re. The coun­try­’s spe­cial­ties, such as fon­due, rös­ti and typi­cal Swiss cho­co­la­te, are prac­ti­cal­ly wai­ting to be tas­ted by you. 
At the heart of Switz­er­land as a vaca­ti­on desti­na­ti­on lies the famous capi­tal city of Bern, who­se old town was declared a UNESCO World Heri­ta­ge Site seve­ral years ago. Howe­ver, the city­scape is still cha­rac­te­ri­zed by spe­cial sights, such as the Fede­ral Palace in the midd­le of the city cen­ter. This impo­sing buil­ding is the seat of the Swiss govern­ment and par­lia­ment and also impres­ses with its uni­que water fea­tures with a total of 26 foun­ta­ins. Bern’s local moun­tain, the “Gur­ten”, is also a very popu­lar excur­si­on desti­na­ti­on and offers a fan­ta­stic view over the enti­re city. The land­mark par excel­lence is pro­ba­b­ly the clock tower, a well-known exam­p­le of medieval clockmaking. 
Ano­ther very popu­lar metro­po­lis is the city of Zurich, known for its count­less muse­ums and shop­ping oppor­tu­ni­ties. The city can also be explo­red from the water, a boat tour opens up com­ple­te­ly new insights and you get the oppor­tu­ni­ty to explo­re the neigh­bor­ing Lake Zurich up clo­se. You can also dis­co­ver Zurich’s old town, which is affec­tion­a­te­ly known by the locals as the “Dörf­li”.

To expe­ri­ence more of Switz­er­lan­d’s scenic wealth, you can take a trip on the famous Ber­ni­na Express. This train tra­vels via St. Moritz, Alp Grüm to Tira­no. You will also tra­vel over the world-famous Land­was­ser Via­duct, which has been a UNESCO World Heri­ta­ge Site sin­ce 2008.

The Rigi, also known as the “Queen of the Moun­ta­ins”, is loca­ted on Lake Lucer­ne and offers a uni­que view of the moun­tain pan­ora­ma and 13 lakes in the imme­dia­te vici­ni­ty. The sun­ri­se crui­se from July to Sep­tem­ber is high­ly recom­men­ded. The atmo­sphe­re will lite­ral­ly cast a spell over you.
