Romantically illuminated wooden huts, steaming punch in your hands and the smell of bratwurst, chestnuts and roasted almonds in the air. When the first snowflakes swirl through the air and the mountain peaks light up, the Christmas season is definitely enchanting. Whether it’s a special Advent market hop by boat on Lake Tegernsee, the traditional Christmas market in Bad Tölz or the South Tyrolean Bell Christmas in the historic old town of Sterzing — these Feuer & Eis Touristik trips sweeten the pre-Christmas and winter season.
Traditional charm at the Christmas market in Bad Tölz
Along the historic market street and the typical Lüftl paintings on the houses, 40 lovingly decorated wooden huts await with culinary delicacies and artistic, regional crafts such as carved figures and jewelry. A children’s merry-go-round turns in front of the fountain, singers and music groups from the Isarwinkel play festive Christmas carols — just like in the old days, only today. The Tölz Christmas market is the largest and probably best-known Christmas market in the region and is popular with both young and old.
Feuer und Eis Touristik has a special Advent offer that includes a guided tour of the spa town and, as a highlight, a Christmas performance in the 110-year-old Tölz Marionette Theater. To ensure that the nature and hiking experience is not neglected on this Advent excursion, excursions into the Bavarian winter paradise around Bad Tölz invite you. Whether it’s a walk along the Wild Isar or a climb up one of the surrounding mountains? Everyone will find the right supporting program for themselves here.

Three times as much Advent at Lake Tegernsee
Three Christmas markets in one go — this special opportunity is offered on Lake Tegernsee. The boat takes you effortlessly between the Advent markets in Bad Wiessee, Tegernsee and Rottach-Egern, always with a wonderful view of the illuminated lakeside promenades. Each of these three markets has its own unique charm and special flair: in Bad Wiessee, around 20 exhibitors offer handmade products made of wood, ceramics or wool as well as regional specialties such as Bavarian whiskey punch.
Around the pavilion in the spa gardens of Rottach-Egern on the shores of Lake Tegernsee, the Rottacher Weisenbläser and the Oimdudler provide musical entertainment. And in front of the Tegernsee castle church, a whole village of Christmas huts is waiting to be discovered.
Exclusively with Feuer & Eis Touristik, the Advent Magic Tegernsee offer also includes the company of a local guide in the town of Tegernsee, who will provide interesting information about the region, its people, customs and traditions. But there is also plenty of time for a detour to the Wallberg, a hike along the Tegernsee High Trail or a relaxing spa session in the iodine sulphur bath in Bad Wiessee. Guests are spoiled for choice — whether to stay in a hotel, a vacation apartment or a guest house… and in which of the three towns?

Winter and Christmas friends in Sterzing
The Sterzing Bell Christmas and the accompanying Christmas market are unique. Firstly, the charming, late medieval mining town is situated at an altitude of almost 1000 meters — spectacular views included. Secondly, very special traditions and customs are waiting to be experienced here. During Advent, there is a sweet smell of freshly baked Spitzbuam, gingerbread tents and stollen. Watching over all this is the characteristic Zwölferturm tower from 1470 with a carillon of 25 bells.
They sound daily at 17:00. The musician and composer Josef Haller has composed his own piece with ensemble accompaniment for the carillon in his home town (premiere in 2020). Josef Haller and Sterzing musicians will perform it together on various days during Advent. You have until January 6 to visit the Alpine town of Sterzing and the Glockenweihnacht.
If you would like to visit this Advent market, simply plan a detour to the Glockenweihnacht as part of the Fire and Ice Tourism Winter Activity Week in South Tyrol. Tour starts are possible on January 4 and 5, 2025 — so make the most of this last chance before the Glockenweihnacht ends on January 6. Cross-country skiing, night tobogganing and snowshoeing are already on the program — what better way to experience winter?
