Feuer und Eis partner tour

Adige cycle path — from Nauders to Bolzano

Price on request

In the Reschenpass vacation region, in the border town of Nauders, you start your cycle tour in the mountains of Tyrol. After just a few kilometers you reach the border with Italy and will quickly feel the cozy flair of South Tyrol. Explore the Venosta Valley region with all your senses, taste Italian wine, gather new impressions in the charming villages and small towns, cool off in the accompanying Adige River or in the lakes along the way — the cycle tour from Nauders to Bolzano offers all this and many other scenic and cultural highlights, such as following in the footsteps of Ötzi.

Itinerary / Stages

Individual arrival in Nauders
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
You can experience the border in a double sense on the day you arrive. Only about five kilometers lie between Nauders and the borders to Italy and Switzerland. In the summer months in particular, the region around the Reschen Pass offers countless opportunities to experience the mild temperatures with outdoor activities and to make personal border crossings.
Nauders — Holiday region Reschensee and Obervinschgau
Distanz: 35 km Höhe (+): 220m Höhe (-): 220m
From Nauders, you cycle to the Reschen Pass, the border between Austria and Italy. Along Lake Reschen, with one of the most famous photo motifs in South Tyrol, the church tower of Altgraun surrounded by water, you then cycle mainly downhill to today’s stage destination. Enjoy your first evening in South Tyrol in the narrow alleyways of your stage town.
Vacation region Lake Resia and Upper Venosta Valley — Merano
Distanz: 65 km Höhe (+): 10m Höhe (-): 700m
Today you will cycle through the entire Vinschgau Valley — accompanied by the rushing of the Adige River — and cycle downhill from Malles/Mals to Merano/Meran through the famous fruit-growing areas. First you reach Glorenza/Glurns, the smallest town in the Alps. Via the marble village of Lasa/Laas you then reach Naturno/Naturns and finally past the striking Castelbello/Kastelbell Castle to the spa town of Merano/Meran. Relax here on an evening stroll along the Passer promenade amidst a subtropical world of plants.
Merano adventure day
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Relaxation is on the agenda and Merano offers some great opportunities for this: a walk in the Rosengarten, a panoramic tour of Dorf Tirol or perhaps a visit to the thermal baths? But if you don’t want to give your bike a rest, a trip to the Passeier Valley, the former home of Tyrolean freedom fighter Andreas Hofer, is the best way to do it.
Merano — Castelfeder vacation region
Distanz: 60 km Höhe (+): 398m Höhe (-): 483m
There is much to marvel at along this route: the famous Schnatterpeck altar in the church in Niederlana, the highest church tower in South Tyrol in Terlan and numerous castles and ruins on both sides of the valley. After the opportunity for a short detour to South Tyrol’s capital Bolzano, Lake Kaltern offers a pleasant opportunity to cool off any tired cycling legs. The stage finish is then the Castelfeder vacation region with the towns of Ora, Montan, Egna and Salorno, where the German-speaking part of South Tyrol ends.
Castelfeder vacation region — Bolzano
Distanz: 30 km Höhe (+): 161m Höhe (-): 195m
Yesterday you already cycled close to Bolzano. Today, the route takes you either on a very direct route along the Adige river or as part of a short tour extension, including a climb that still needs to be overcome, along the scenic route along the Monticolo lakes to the center of Bolzano. Once there, we hope you enjoy exploring the bustling city or simply relaxing on Waltherplatz square.
