A warm wel­co­me to Upper Bava­ria in the run-up to Christ­mas. As the days grow shorter, this spe­cial time begins—a time for cozy moments at the Advent mar­kets, fil­led with the scent of roas­ted almonds, mull­ed wine, regio­nal deli­ca­ci­es, and lovin­g­ly craf­ted han­di­crafts. On this Advent hiking tour, you’ll expe­ri­ence the per­fect com­bi­na­ti­on of win­ter hikes through the Upper Bava­ri­an coun­try­si­de and atmo­sphe­ric Christ­mas mar­kets in the Töl­zer Land and the Tegern­see Val­ley. To kick things off, the small Alpi­ne town of Bad Tölz wel­co­mes you. The his­to­ric Tölz Christ­mas Mar­ket is one of Bavaria’s most beau­tiful Christ­mas mar­kets and delights visi­tors with its uni­que set­ting, tra­di­tio­nal han­di­crafts, and regio­nal spe­cial­ties. The next day, you’ll hike along the rus­hing, crys­tal-clear Isar—one of Bavaria’s last wild rivers—to Leng­gries. The­re, you’ll dis­co­ver the lovin­g­ly desi­gned Krip­perl­weg, fea­turing nati­vi­ty sce­nes dis­play­ed in the town’s store­front win­dows. A visit to the “Her­bal Witch” for a warm­ing cup of tea or a cozy break at a café turns this win­ter day into an atmo­sphe­ric expe­ri­ence, befo­re hea­ding back to Bad Tölz—and per­haps stop­ping by the Christ­mas mar­ket one more time. The next mor­ning, the jour­ney con­ti­nues to Lake Tegern­see. A scenic high-alti­tu­de hike abo­ve the lake, offe­ring magni­fi­cent views of the sur­roun­ding moun­ta­ins, leads you to the famous Tegern­seer Bräu­st­überl, whe­re Bava­ri­an deli­ca­ci­es await you. After­ward, you can stroll through the Tegern­see Cast­le Mar­ket befo­re a spe­cial high­light awaits you: aboard the included shut­tle boat, you’ll gli­de lei­su­re­ly across the lake to the next Advent mar­ket. Bad Wies­see and Rot­tach-Egern also await you, fes­tively deco­ra­ted with their own Advent mar­kets and uni­que charm. Final­ly, the boat will take you to your over­night desti­na­ti­on in Bad Wies­see or Rot­tach-Egern. Day 1
Tra­vel to Bad Tölz on your own and visit the Christ­mas market

Wel­co­me to the idyl­lic Alpi­ne town of Bad Tölz. Visit the Tölz Christ­mas Mar­ket, one of the most beau­tiful Christ­mas mar­kets in Bava­ria. Along the his­to­ric Markt­stra­ße, lovin­g­ly deco­ra­ted craft and food stalls line the street, invi­ting you to enjoy regio­nal spe­cial­ties and brow­se for uni­que gift ide­as. // Over­night stay: Post­ho­tel Kol­ber­bräu*** (sub­ject to avai­la­bi­li­ty; other­wi­se, an alter­na­ti­ve hotel) 
Day 2
An idyl­lic hike along the Isar River to Leng­gries and a visit to the Krip­perl­weg trail
Distanz: 12 km Höhe (+): 50m Höhe (-): 30m
After break­fast, you’ll set out direct­ly from your hotel in Bad Tölz on a lei­su­re­ly win­ter hike along the rus­hing Isar, Germany’s last wild river. The trail winds through the unspoi­led Isar flood­plains and offers magni­fi­cent views of the win­ter land­scape. The rou­te can also be shor­ten­ed if desi­red. Once you arri­ve in Leng­gries, take a stroll along the char­ming Krip­perl­weg. The town’s store­fronts dis­play lovin­g­ly craf­ted nati­vi­ty sce­nes, invi­ting you to enjoy a lei­su­re­ly walk. After­ward, you can warm up with a hot cup of tea at the Kräu­ter­he­xe or in one of the cozy cafés. You can then take the train back to Bad Tölz (free with the guest card). Day 3
On the pan­o­r­amic high-alti­tu­de trail to Tegern­see and three Advent mar­kets around the lake
Distanz: 7 km Höhe (+): 120m Höhe (-): 120m
This mor­ning, take the bus (free with a guest card) to Gmund am Tegern­see. From the­re, you’ll set out on a scenic hike along Lake Tegern­see befo­re ascen­ding to a high-alti­tu­de trail offe­ring spec­ta­cu­lar views. This trail takes you past the lake with stun­ning vis­tas all the way to the famous Tegern­seer Bräu­st­überl, which invi­tes you to stop for a cozy break and enjoy some Bava­ri­an deli­ca­ci­es. After­ward, take a stroll through the char­ming cast­le mar­ket on Lake Tegern­see. Start­ing at 2:00 p.m., use your included shut­tle boat ticket to tra­vel to eit­her Bad Wies­see or Rot­tach-Egern. The­re, you’ll find more Advent mar­kets right on the lakes­hore. Enjoy the fes­ti­ve atmo­sphe­re with pre-Christ­mas music, regio­nal deli­ca­ci­es, and the spar­k­ling Lake Tegern­see as a pic­tures­que back­drop. // Wal­king time: approx. 2 hours // Over­night stay: Gäs­te­haus See­ro­se in Rot­tach-Egern (or a com­pa­ra­ble hotel in Rot­tach-Egern or Bad Wiessee)

We recom­mend that you do not orga­ni­ze your arri­val and depar­tu­re until after this dead­line has passed.
Par­king
Free par­king in Bad Tölz: gra­vel par­king lot P1 Arzbach­er Stra­ße (approx. 10 minu­tes walk to the old town) or Park and Ride par­king lot at Bad Tölz train sta­ti­on (bus con­nec­tion to the old town).
Return jour­ney
You can take the No. 357 bus to return from Bad Wies­see / Rot­tach-Egern (free with a guest card). Alter­na­tively, you can take the bus to the Tegern­see or Gmund train sta­ti­on and depart by train from there. 
Arri­val
Car: Arri­val from the south or north via the A8 to Holz­kir­chen, then on the B13 to Bad Tölz; Arri­val from the west via the B95 to Sin­dels­dorf, then on the B472 to Bad Tölz. Train: Long-distance trains arri­ve from all direc­tions at Munich Cen­tral Sta­ti­on, from the­re con­ti­nue with the BRB to Bad Tölz. The city bus takes you direct­ly to your accommodation. 
Tour cha­rac­ter
For the hike along the Isar River and on the Tegern­see High Trail, you should bring stur­dy, warm foot­wear and func­tion­al clot­hing laye­red accor­ding to the “oni­on prin­ci­ple.” The hikes fol­low well-main­tai­ned, wide trails and invol­ve only a slight ele­va­ti­on gain. Wal­king times ran­ge from two to three hours. All rou­tes can also be fle­xi­bly adjus­ted or shor­ten­ed. In case of snow or icy con­di­ti­ons, we recom­mend brin­ging cram­pons for your shoes to pre­vent slipping. 
See­ro­se Guest­house in Rot­tach-Egern on Lake Tegernsee
This guest­house, lovin­g­ly fur­nis­hed with ple­nty of wood, wel­co­mes you with a cozy atmo­sphe­re and even fea­tures a small well­ness area. The guest­house is loca­ted right near Lake Tegern­see and the Rot­tach Advent Market. 
Post­ho­tel Kol­ber­bräu*** in Bad Tölz
The Hotel Kol­ber­bräu (3*) is loca­ted on his­to­ric Markt­stra­ße in Bad Tölz’s Old Town, right in the heart of the Christ­mas mar­ket. In the evening, you’ll be spoi­led for choice: visit the hotel’s own restau­rant, sam­ple the culina­ry offe­rings at the Christ­mas mar­ket, or dine at one of the many other restaurants.
