You should be well trai­ned for this cycling tour and be able to cover seve­ral kilo­me­ters a day. It’s new, it’s dif­fe­rent, it has no begin­ning and no end: the All­gäu Cycle Tour. This 476-kilo­me­ter long-distance cycle rou­te sets new stan­dards. Becau­se unli­ke the well-known river rou­tes, this is not about a tour from one point to the next, but about lite­ral­ly ‘explo­ring’ a regi­on with its sto­ries, per­so­na­li­ties and dif­fe­rent land­scapes. The pro­duct was crea­ted as a joint effort by 14 All­gäu towns and adver­ti­sing asso­cia­ti­ons, the four All­gäu dis­tricts and other tou­rism part­ners, who have joi­n­ed forces in the Cycling Busi­ness Unit under the manage­ment of All­gäu GmbH. The All­gäu Cycle Tour leads through six dis­tricts in Bava­ria, neigh­bor­ing Baden-Würt­tem­berg and Tyrol on 476 most­ly asphal­ted kilo­me­ters. It does not con­nect town after town and city after city in a straight line. Ins­tead, it immer­ses you in the sto­ries of the All­gäu, brings per­so­na­li­ties to life and turns the land­scape into a nar­ra­tor. On and direct­ly next to the rou­te are not only world-famous sights such as Neu­schwan­stein Cast­le, but also the birth­places and places of work of renow­ned per­so­na­li­ties such as the water doc­tor Sebas­ti­an Kneipp. Pret­ty, baro­que towns such as Bad Wurz­ach, Wan­gen and Isny invi­te you to lin­ger. Dre­a­my vil­la­ges at the foot of bizar­re moun­tain peaks tell sto­ries of a long, respectful rela­ti­onship bet­ween man and the mountains.

Day 1
Jour­ney to Wangen
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Wan­gen im All­gäu is pic­tures­que­ly nest­led bet­ween the Lower Argen in the north and the Upper Argen in the south. Anyo­ne strol­ling through the streets and nar­row alley­ways of the lovin­g­ly res­to­red old town will be ama­zed by all the colors, shapes and pub signs. At the end of Her­ren­stra­ße is Wan­gen’s land­mark, the Ravens­burg Gate with its char­ming, cha­rac­te­ristic cor­ner turrets.
Day 2
Wan­gen — Immenstadt 
Distanz: 96 km Höhe (+): 1030m Höhe (-): 850m
Today’s stage starts in the pic­tures­que vil­la­ge of Wan­gen, from whe­re you cycle over hil­ly, green moun­ta­ins past old farm­hou­ses via Isny — always with the Nagel­fuh­ket­te moun­tain ran­ge in view — to Immenstadt. Short­ly befo­re Immenstadt, the cycle tour pas­ses the beau­tiful­ly situa­ted Gro­ßer Alp­see lake. 
Day 3
Immenstadt — Pfronten
Distanz: 105 km Höhe (+): 1084m Höhe (-): 958m
From Immenstadt, you cycle along the Nagel­fuh­ket­te Natu­re Park via Fischen and Sont­ho­fen through hil­ly Alpi­ne foot­hills along the Grün­ten to the Rott­ach­see lake. The rou­te then con­ti­nues uphill along hills to Oy Mit­tel­berg, then downhill again to Nes­sel­wang and from the­re you cycle the last few kilo­me­ters to Pfron­ten at a lei­su­re­ly pace, always with the beau­tiful Alps in view. 
Day 4
Pfron­ten — Bad Wörishofen
Distanz: 84 km Höhe (+): 344m Höhe (-): 573m
Today you start over seve­ral hill­tops and final­ly reach “Hop­fer­au” and then the plain around the warm “Hop­fen­see”. With views of “Neu­schwan­stein” and the roy­al cast­les, you cycle into “Füs­sen”. The rou­te con­ti­nues along the shores of Lake Forg­gen­see to Kauf­beu­ren, past rape­seed fields and tra­di­tio­nal far­ming to Bad Wörishofen. 
Day 5
Bad Wöris­ho­fen — Leutkirch
Distanz: 100 km Höhe (+): 820m Höhe (-): 850m
Today’s cycle tour takes you through green fields with distant views of the moun­tain peaks. At Lan­gen­berg, the impres­si­ve basi­li­ca of Otto­beu­ren, whe­re Kneipp was bap­ti­zed, rises like out of nowhe­re. The rou­te con­ti­nues via Moos­bach and Her­bis­ho­fen, with won­derful views of the moun­ta­ins as your con­stant com­pa­n­ions, to Bad Grö­nen­bach. A short stretch along the Iller fol­lo­wed by hills and mea­dows takes you to Leutkirch. 
Day 6
Leut­kirch — Wangen
Distanz: 80 km Höhe (+): 635m Höhe (-): 735m
To the west of Leut­kirch, you cycle lei­su­re­ly through the idyl­lic All­gäu, just as you know it from many pho­tos: crys­tal-clear streams bab­b­le through lush green mea­dows, making room here and the­re for a vil­la­ge or a tran­quil small town. As far as Wan­gen, you always have the impres­si­ve jag­ged band of the Alps in view, which draws ever clo­ser and seems clo­se enough to touch.

Explo­re the Allgäu’s stun­ning natu­ral beau­ty over 476 kilo­me­ters. In the north, the cycling rou­te is char­ming and peaceful; in the south, you’ll ride through the rol­ling Alpi­ne foot­hills. It’s not just the diver­se land­scape of the Allgäu—with its crys­tal-clear lakes, mea­dows and pas­tu­res, rivers, and the All­gäu Alps—that invi­tes you to the All­gäu cycling para­di­se, but also the fasci­na­ting towns and char­ming cities whe­re cul­tu­re and histo­ry come tog­e­ther. Clas­si­fi­ca­ti­on of the route
In its inau­gu­ral year, the All­gäu Cycling Loop was award­ed four stars—the second-hig­hest qua­li­ty rating—by the All­ge­mei­ner Deut­scher Fahr­rad-Club (ADFC). This inde­pen­dent eva­lua­ti­on, con­duc­ted by based on estab­lished cri­te­ria, gua­ran­tees cyclists excel­lent rou­tes free of unp­lea­sant sur­pri­ses. Howe­ver, the eva­lua­ti­on is not limi­t­ed to the qua­li­ty of the rou­tes. The ser­vices rela­ted to the long-distance bike trails are also assessed. 
Bicy­cle Rentals
We would like to point out that you are respon­si­ble for coll­ec­ting the ren­tal bikes from our bike ren­tal part­ner and retur­ning them punc­tual­ly after use. The abo­ve ren­tal bike pri­ce is valid for 6 days (day of arri­val is the last day of the tour, which is not the day of depar­tu­re). Your ren­tal bike is reser­ved for you from the day of arri­val. After your tour, the ren­tal bike should be retur­ned direct­ly to the ren­tal shop. Addi­tio­nal cos­ts are incur­red for each addi­tio­nal day. We are hap­py to bring the bike direct­ly to the hotel and pick it up again for an addi­tio­nal char­ge. Pan­niers are available on request. 
Other Infor­ma­ti­on
To ensu­re a stress-free start to your trip, we gene­ral­ly recom­mend arri­ving at the start­ing point by ear­ly evening. Some tours begin as ear­ly as noon; in tho­se cases, we recom­mend arri­ving the day befo­re. We’d be hap­py to book an extra night for you right away. Your indi­vi­du­al return trip takes place on the last day of the trip. The distances lis­ted are appro­xi­ma­te and may dif­fer from the actu­al distances tra­ve­led. This trip is not sui­ta­ble for peo­p­le with limi­t­ed mobility. 
Mini­mum num­ber of participants
If a mini­mum num­ber of par­ti­ci­pan­ts is requi­red for the tour to take place, this is sta­ted under Pri­ces and ser­vices. If the mini­mum num­ber of par­ti­ci­pan­ts is not rea­ched, we reser­ve the right to can­cel the trip up to four weeks befo­re the date of arri­val. We recom­mend that you do not orga­ni­ze your arri­val and depar­tu­re until after this dead­line has passed.

On the who­le, I enjoy­ed the tour. The hotels were per­fect­ly OK. The lug­ga­ge trans­port also work­ed well, but I could have done wit­hout the climb to the Berg­hof in Pfron­ten. Espe­ci­al­ly becau­se the tour was very stre­nuous that day. After 85 km the­re was an ascent of 20% and the Berg­hof restau­rant was clo­sed on Mon­days. gree­tings Moni­ka Theuer
