Alpe Adria 2 — From Vil­lach to Trieste

The tour is very scenic and varied. Howe­ver, the orga­niza­ti­on left a lot to be desi­red. 2 weeks befo­re the start of the tour, no docu­ments were available. Only after a pho­ne call and a writ­ten request did I recei­ve a hotel list by e‑mail. After fur­ther inqui­ries, I was given access to a rou­te app. I had to get infor­ma­ti­on about par­king from the hotel mys­elf. We were then able to park our car the­re at the hotel rate. We should recei­ve the remai­ning docu­ments at the hotel. The­se were incom­ple­te. Maps and lug­ga­ge tags were miss­ing, as well as emer­gen­cy cont­act details. We had to coll­ect the remai­ning docu­ments from the office in Vil­lach on the day of arri­val and the hotels did not always cor­re­spond to their clas­si­fi­ca­ti­on: Hotel voco: Loca­ti­on gre­at, break­fast very good, rooms and cor­ri­dor are­as worn, fri­end­li­ne­ss good. Tar­vi­sio: Hotel Edel­hof: old hotel, very appe­al­ing, good loca­ti­on, good break­fast, room was fine, bath­room a bit mus­ty. Din­ner at the hotel was gre­at. Very friendly.Venzone: Alma Living: Hotel out­side the vil­la­ge, on a busy coun­try road with truck and bus traf­fic. Restau­rant ter­race facing the street, cor­re­spon­din­gly noi­sy and uncom­for­ta­ble. The­re was no pos­si­bi­li­ty to stay out­side the room. To the next town approx. 4 km along the coun­try road. The desti­na­ti­on was actual­ly Ven­zo­ne. We had to dri­ve about 4 km back to the hotel from the­re. Rooms new and nice, break­fast good, staff friendly.Udine: San Gior­gio: Loca­ti­on ok, staff fri­end­ly, rooms equip­ped with fur­ni­tu­re from the 80s and accor­din­gly worn out. Bath­room new­ly reno­va­ted but still with a strong smell of mold.Grado Dia­na: loca­ti­on ok, room ok, break­fast ok, staff friendly.Trieste: Hotel Cope cor­re­spon­ded to the 4 stars, loca­ti­on ok, break­fast ok, staff very friendly.I would have lik­ed a litt­le more gene­ral infor­ma­ti­on: you had to labo­rious­ly search for this on the inter­net. The lug­ga­ge trans­port work­ed very well, the lug­ga­ge was usual­ly at the hotel around 3.00 pm, so that you could fres­hen up and chan­ge after arri­val, and the trans­fer back to the start­ing hotel was just as good. The app that we down­loa­ded to our pho­ne was hel­pful. It ser­ved us well, as not all sec­tions of the rou­te were well sign­pos­ted and the cycle tour was real­ly beau­tiful and can be done wit­hout e‑bikes if you are fit enough. I am hap­py to give 5 stars here. Howe­ver, I can­not give this for the organization.
