Feuer und Eis partner tour

Apulia — The heart of the Mediterranean

from 798,- per person

You can’t go any further south-east than Italy. On this cycle tour, you will not only experience the unique landscape between the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, but also the friendliness and hospitality of the southern Italians. But culture is not neglected here either: Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Normans, Hohenstaufen, Aragonese, Habsburgs and Bourbons have all left their mark here.

Itinerary / Stages

Individual arrival in Alberobello
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Individual arrival at the starting hotel in Alberobello. Alberobello is particularly famous for its conical buildings (trulli) — entire districts are made up of such trulli. The town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Alberobello — Ostuni
Distanz: 35 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Cycle tour through the Valle dItria, one of the most beautiful cultural landscapes in the south. Today’s stage destination is Ostuni, the white town with a magnificent view of the sea.
Ostuni — Avetrana/Manduria
Distanz: 60 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
From Ostuni, the route takes you through olive groves, vineyards and fruit orchards to Avetrana, a small town steeped in history on the old Via Appia. This ancient Roman road once led from Rome via Taranto and Oria to Brindisi. Today, only a few sections of the old paved road have been preserved as Via Appia Antica.
Avetrana/Manduria — Gallipoli
Distanz: 60 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
You leave Avetrana and soon reach the sea. After a detour to Torre Colimena, follow the coastal road with its numerous fortified towers to Porto Cesareo. Continue along the Ionian coast to Gallipoli. This Kale Polis (beautiful city) of Greek origin is the real urban surprise on the Ionian Sea. Find your way through the city’s maze of alleyways, where several churches and a quaint museum await your visit. Observe the omnipresent professional fishermen, who continue to provide an authentic image of the city.
Gallipoli — Santa Maria di Leuca/surroundings
Distanz: 50 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Today you will reach the southernmost point of Salento and at the same time the watershed to the Ionian Sea at Santa Maria di Leuca. The village is best known for its pilgrimage church. Around the turn of the century, many magnificent villas were built here, which are an absolute architectural highlight due to their imaginative to absurd shapes. Eccentric end-of-the-world lovers settled here to enjoy the tranquillity and the sea in the remote location.
Santa Maria di Leuca/surroundings — Otranto
Distanz: 50 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Today we travel along the southernmost coast of the Adriatic Sea to the Messapian city of Otranto. It is considered an art-historical gem in the midst of a charming landscape. The old town is surrounded by mighty city walls and boasts an impressive Habsburg castle. On the way to Otranto, you have the opportunity to visit the famous Grotta Zinzulusa, the only coastal grotto open to the public. Santa Cesarea Terme, known for its hydrotherapeutic cures and radioactive mud therapies, also deserves a stopover.
Otranto — Lecce
Distanz: 50 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
First along the Adriatic coast, then through countless olive groves to Lecce. Lecce, the capital of Salento, is a city of great charm, which impresses above all with the undisputed beauty of its buildings and churches. Alongside Naples, Lecce is the baroque metropolis of the south, and it is not for nothing that it is known as Lecce Baroque. Around 30 churches and countless palaces await your visit. Don’t forget to pay a visit to the amphitheater and the Roman theater, both of which were probably built under Emperor Augustus.
Individual departure
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Individual departure or possibility of extension.
