Castle park bike tour in the Allgäu with luggage transfer

from 988,- per person

Blooming meadows, glittering lakes, majestic mountains and royal castles await you on the 220 km long castle park cycle tour in the Allgäu. The name of the cycle tour says it all, as the route resembles an extensive, royal park with fantastic panoramas and enchants with its diverse natural landscapes and ornate buildings. During the ride, you will understand why King Ludwig II chose this region to have his imposing Neuschwanstein Castle built. The start and finish of the cycle tour is the Lech town of Füssen, which invites you to stroll through its winding old town.

Itinerary / Stages

Day 1
Individual journey to Füssen
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Füssen in the Allgäu is a cycling hub in the northern Alps. Not only does our Schlossparkradrunde start here. The Romantic Road, the Allgäu Cycle Tour, the Lake Constance-Königssee Cycle Route and the Via Claudia Augusta all intersect here. Bavaria’s highest old town invites you to stroll through its alleyways and the numerous bathing lakes in the surrounding area provide the perfect refreshment on hot summer days.
Day 2
Füssen — Roßhaupten
Distanz: 56 km Höhe (+): 470m Höhe (-): 460m
Your first stage takes you from Füssen to Roßhaupten. You leave Füssen, cross the Lech and reach Schwangau. The first highlight of the Castle Park Tour awaits you there: the two royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. These magnificent buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries are picturesquely nestled against the backdrop of the Ammer Mountains. Take a short detour and cycle up Neuschwansteinstraße. The last stretch there must be covered on foot (approx. 15 minutes) to catch the most beautiful view of the fairytale castle from the Marienbrücke bridge. After this royal stopover, continue cycling past the Bannwaldsee lake through moorland and felt landscapes to the municipality of Steingaden. Don’t miss out on a visit to the magnificently decorated Wieskirche church, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983. The route continues along the Lech reservoir until you reach Roßhaupten.
Day 3
Roßhaupten — Buchloe
Distanz: 57 km Höhe (+): 340m Höhe (-): 600m
From Roßhaupten, the route continues to Waal. Cross the municipality of Stötten am Auerberg and pass over 28 hamlets. The village on the moor impresses with its diverse natural landscapes. The route leads uphill to the highest point of the stage (897 m). Enjoy the unique Alpine panorama and the view over the Geltnach valley and the upland moors before you let yourself roll down into the valley over the following kilometers. The Schlossparkradrunde takes you through the legendary Sachsenrieder Forst forest to Stocken and on roads with little traffic to Waal. The municipality of Waal has become very well known in the region thanks to its Passion Play, which takes place every three to four years and is one of the oldest in Bavarian Swabia.
Day 4
Buchloe — Bad Wörishofen
Distanz: 34 km Höhe (+): 90m Höhe (-): 80m
You cycle further north along the railroad embankment and reach Lamerdingen via Dillishausen. You follow the course of the Gennach stream and reach the village of the same name. At an altitude of 575 meters, you are at the lowest point of the route. The idyllic rose garden in Gennach is well worth a visit. You can discover more than 1,200 fragrant rose plants on an area of over 3,000 m². The day’s stage continues along the Wertach, which, at 150 km long, is the second largest river to rise in the Allgäu Alps after the Iller, to Türkheim. Now the destination of today’s route is just a stone’s throw away. You spend the night in Bad Wörishofen, the former home of Sebastian Kneipp, who gave his name to Kneipp medicine.
Day 5
Bad Wörishofen — Görisried / Wald
Distanz: 57 km Höhe (+): 510m Höhe (-): 300m
You leave Bad Wörishofen and cross a quiet wooded area behind Eggenthal with a cozy rest area that invites you to take your first break. As you continue your journey, spectacular views of the Alps are revealed time and again. After a short descent, you reach Aitrang, nestled between bathing lakes and nature reserves. As soon as you leave the village behind you, you approach the mountain peaks kilometer by kilometer and reach the stage destination of Görisried.
Day 6
Görisried — Füssen
Distanz: 40 km Höhe (+): 420m Höhe (-): 460m
The last day begins with a climb up to Wildberg. The effort is rewarded with an Alpine panorama that puts the views of the previous days in the shade. The route continues along the Kempten Forest to the climatic spa and pilgrimage site of Maria Rain. Many pilgrims visit the Holy Cross Church year after year to sing to the Virgin Mary. Continue along the cycle path to the brewery village of Nesselwang. A visit to the local brewery museum is well worthwhile. Accompanied by beautiful scenery, you continue via Pfronten to the picturesque Weißensee lake. On the way there, you will see the ruins of Falkenstein Castle on the right, which at 1,268 meters is the highest castle complex in Germany. King Ludwig II originally planned to have the castle rebuilt in the style of Neuschwanstein Castle. However, Bavaria’s growing debt under his leadership prevented his plan from being realized. The tour ends at Lake Weissensee, along the northern shore of which you cycle until you reach the beautiful town of Füssen shortly after the lake.
Day 7
