Bloo­ming mea­dows, glit­te­ring lakes, maje­s­tic moun­ta­ins and roy­al cast­les await you on the 220 km long cast­le park cycle tour in the All­gäu. The name of the cycle tour says it all, as the rou­te resem­bles an exten­si­ve, roy­al park with fan­ta­stic pan­ora­mas and enchants with its diver­se natu­ral land­scapes and orna­te buil­dings. During the ride, you will under­stand why King Lud­wig II cho­se this regi­on to have his impo­sing Neu­schwan­stein Cast­le built. The start and finish of the cycle tour is the Lech town of Füs­sen, which invi­tes you to stroll through its win­ding old town.

Indi­vi­du­al jour­ney to Füssen

Füs­sen in the All­gäu is a cycling hub in the nor­t­hern Alps. Not only does our Schloss­park­rad­run­de start here. The Roman­tic Road, the All­gäu Cycle Tour, the Lake Con­s­tance-Königs­see Cycle Rou­te and the Via Clau­dia Augus­ta all inter­sect here. Bava­ria’s hig­hest old town invi­tes you to stroll through its alley­ways and the num­e­rous bathing lakes in the sur­roun­ding area pro­vi­de the per­fect refresh­ment on hot sum­mer days. 
Füs­sen — Roß­haup­ten — Buching
Distanz: 55 km Höhe (+): 241m Höhe (-): 258m
Your first stage takes you from Füs­sen to Roß­haup­ten. You lea­ve Füs­sen, cross the Lech and reach Schwan­gau. The first high­light of the Cast­le Park Tour awaits you the­re: the two roy­al cast­les of Neu­schwan­stein and Hohen­schwan­gau. The­se magni­fi­cent buil­dings from the 18th and 19th cen­tu­ries are pic­tures­que­ly nest­led against the back­drop of the Ammer Moun­ta­ins. Take a short detour and cycle up Neu­schwan­stein­stra­ße. The last stretch the­re must be cover­ed on foot (approx. 15 minu­tes) to catch the most beau­tiful view of the fairy­ta­le cast­le from the Mari­en­brü­cke bridge. After this roy­al sto­po­ver, con­ti­nue cycling past the Bann­wald­see lake through moor­land and felt land­scapes to the muni­ci­pa­li­ty of Stein­ga­den. Don’t miss out on a visit to the magni­fi­cent­ly deco­ra­ted Wies­kir­che church, which has been a UNESCO World Heri­ta­ge Site sin­ce 1983. The rou­te con­ti­nues along the Lech reser­voir until you reach Roß­haup­ten. Over­night stay in Buching. 
Buch­ing — Roß­haup­ten — Buchloe
Distanz: 65 km Höhe (+): 249m Höhe (-): 408m
On the way back to Roß­haup­ten, the rou­te con­ti­nues to Waal. Cross the muni­ci­pa­li­ty of Stöt­ten am Auer­berg and pass over 28 ham­lets. The vil­la­ge on the moor impres­ses with its diver­se natu­ral land­scapes. The rou­te leads uphill to the hig­hest point of the stage (897 m). Enjoy the uni­que Alpi­ne pan­ora­ma and the view over the Gelt­nach val­ley and the upland moors befo­re you let yours­elf roll down into the val­ley over the fol­lo­wing kilo­me­ters. The Schloss­park­rad­run­de takes you through the legen­da­ry Sach­sen­rie­der Forst forest to Sto­cken and on roads with litt­le traf­fic to Waal. The muni­ci­pa­li­ty of Waal has beco­me very well known in the regi­on thanks to its Pas­si­on Play, which takes place every three to four years and is one of the oldest in Bava­ri­an Swabia. 
Waal — Bad Wörishofen
Distanz: 37 km Höhe (+): 55m Höhe (-): 70m
You cycle fur­ther north along the rail­road embank­ment and reach Lamer­din­gen via Dil­lishau­sen. You fol­low the cour­se of the Gen­nach stream and reach the vil­la­ge of the same name. At an alti­tu­de of 575 meters, you are at the lowest point of the rou­te. The idyl­lic rose gar­den in Gen­nach is well worth a visit. You can dis­co­ver more than 1,200 fra­grant rose plants on an area of over 3,000 m². The day’s stage con­ti­nues along the Wertach, which, at 150 km long, is the second lar­gest river to rise in the All­gäu Alps after the Iller, to Türk­heim. Now the desti­na­ti­on of today’s rou­te is just a stone’s throw away. You spend the night in Bad Wöris­ho­fen, the for­mer home of Sebas­ti­an Kneipp, who gave his name to Kneipp medicine. 
Bad Wöris­ho­fen — Görisried
Distanz: 52 km Höhe (+): 338m Höhe (-): 148m
You lea­ve Bad Wöris­ho­fen and cross a quiet woo­ded area behind Eggen­thal with a cozy rest area that invi­tes you to take your first break. As you con­ti­nue your jour­ney, spec­ta­cu­lar views of the Alps are reve­a­led time and again. After a short des­cent, you reach Ait­rang, nest­led bet­ween bathing lakes and natu­re reser­ves. As soon as you lea­ve the vil­la­ge behind you, you approach the moun­tain peaks kilo­me­ter by kilo­me­ter and reach the stage desti­na­ti­on of Görisried. 
Göris­ried — Füssen
Distanz: 39 km Höhe (+): 347m Höhe (-): 365m
The last day beg­ins with a climb up to Wild­berg. The effort is reward­ed with an Alpi­ne pan­ora­ma that puts the views of the pre­vious days in the sha­de. The rou­te con­ti­nues along the Kemp­ten Forest to the cli­ma­tic spa and pil­grimage site of Maria Rain. Many pil­grims visit the Holy Cross Church year after year to sing to the Vir­gin Mary. Con­ti­nue along the cycle path to the bre­wery vil­la­ge of Nes­sel­wang. A visit to the local bre­wery muse­um is well wort­hwhile. Accom­pa­nied by beau­tiful sce­n­ery, you con­ti­nue via Pfron­ten to the pic­tures­que Wei­ßen­see lake. On the way the­re, you will see the ruins of Fal­ken­stein Cast­le on the right, which at 1,268 meters is the hig­hest cast­le com­plex in Ger­ma­ny. King Lud­wig II ori­gi­nal­ly plan­ned to have the cast­le rebuilt in the style of Neu­schwan­stein Cast­le. Howe­ver, Bava­ria’s gro­wing debt under his lea­der­ship pre­ven­ted his plan from being rea­li­zed. The tour ends at Lake Weis­sen­see, along the nor­t­hern shore of which you cycle until you reach the beau­tiful town of Füs­sen short­ly after the lake.

Tour cha­rac­ter
The rou­te is divi­ded into 5 stages and is most­ly on asphal­ted roads with litt­le traf­fic. The tour is cha­rac­te­ri­zed by mode­ra­te, rare­ly steep clim­bs, so that the tour can be easi­ly cycled with a basic level of fitness. 
Arri­val by car
Füs­sen marks the sou­thern end of Ger­many’s lon­gest high­way, the A7. The 961-kilo­met­re fede­ral free­way cros­ses Ger­ma­ny from north to south and brings tra­ve­lers by car or coach quick­ly and con­ve­ni­ent­ly to Füs­sen. In addi­ti­on, the B16, B17 and B310 fede­ral roads from the sur­roun­ding area and the Fern­pass road (B179) from Aus­tria lead direct­ly to Füssen. 
Par­king Füssen
The under­ground car park P5 (City Spar­kas­sen­haus) is loca­ted in the imme­dia­te vici­ni­ty of the city cen­ter. Infor­ma­ti­on on fees can be found at www.fuessen.de/service/gaesteservice/anreise-und-parken/parken-in-fuessen. Par­king is free of char­ge at par­king lot P1 (Fest­platz) until fur­ther noti­ce. The par­king lot is (par­ti­al­ly) clo­sed during events. The par­king lot is approx. 25 minu­tes’ walk from the city center. 
Arri­val by train 
Füs­sen is con­nec­ted to the IC and ICE rail net­work via the long-distance train sta­ti­ons in Munich and Augs­burg and thus to all major Ger­man cities. Regio­nal trains run from the long-distance sta­ti­ons to Füssen. 
Arri­val by coach
Flix­bus long-distance buses tra­vel to Füs­sen from various cities in Ger­ma­ny. You can find out about cur­rent con­nec­tions and pri­ces on the Flix­bus web­site, while the “Komm mit Rei­sen” pick-up ser­vice picks you up direct­ly at your front door and takes you to Füs­sen by bus in a cheap, relia­ble and com­for­ta­ble way. The ser­vice is available in num­e­rous Ger­man cities. The coach tour ope­ra­tor also offers num­e­rous spe­cial trips for spe­cial occa­si­ons. The exact depar­tu­re points and times can be found direct­ly at Komm mit Rei­sen. The Roman­tic Road Euro­pean bus offers you the oppor­tu­ni­ty to tra­vel along the Roman­tic Road from Würz­burg to Füs­sen by bus. The Roman­tic Road buses also con­nect the most popu­lar desti­na­ti­ons on the vaca­ti­on rou­te with the air­ports in Frank­furt am Main and Munich. The jour­ney along the Roman­tic Road can be inter­rupt­ed as often as you like. The tickets are valid for 6 months. The exact tra­vel times and con­di­ti­ons of the Roman­tic Road bus can be found at www.romanticroadcoach.de.
Tra­vel to Füs­sen by plane
Via air­ports Mem­min­gen (approx. 90 km), Munich (approx. 160 km), Lake Con­s­tance (approx. 125 km) or Inns­bruck (approx. 110 km).
Other notes
To ensu­re a stress-free start to the trip, we recom­mend arri­ving at the start­ing point by ear­ly evening in most cases. Some tours start as ear­ly as mid­day, in which case we recom­mend arri­ving the day befo­re and will be hap­py to book an extra night for you at the same time. The indi­vi­du­al return jour­ney takes place on the last day of the tour. The kilo­me­ters are appro­xi­ma­te and may dif­fer from the actu­al kilo­me­ters cover­ed. This tour is not sui­ta­ble for peo­p­le with redu­ced mobility. 
Mini­mum num­ber of participants
If a mini­mum num­ber of par­ti­ci­pan­ts is requi­red for the tour to take place, this is sta­ted under Pri­ces and ser­vices. If the mini­mum num­ber of par­ti­ci­pan­ts is not rea­ched, we reser­ve the right to can­cel the trip up to four weeks befo­re the date of arri­val. You are wel­co­me to add a ren­tal bike to your boo­king. From 2025, we will only offer e‑bike ren­tal bikes. A lock and 1 sadd­le bag are included with every ren­tal bike. Plea­se note that Feu­er und Eis accepts no lia­bi­li­ty for dama­ge or theft. Lia­bi­li­ty insu­rance is recom­men­ded or a ren­tal bike insu­rance that you can take out direct­ly with the ren­tal part­ner (if offe­red). If you only wish to have your bikes trans­por­ted back to the ren­tal part­ner after your trip, this opti­on is available to you as an addi­tio­nal ser­vice when you make your boo­king. The ren­tal bike pri­ce is cal­cu­la­ted from the day of arri­val to the day of depar­tu­re. If no trans­fer or return trans­port ser­vices are boo­ked, the cus­to­mer (NOT Feu­er und Eis) is respon­si­ble for the inde­pen­dent return trans­port of the ren­tal bikes to the ren­tal bike part­ner. Any cos­ts incur­red as a result shall be bor­ne by the cus­to­mer. The ren­tal bikes have a capa­ci­ty of 500Wh or 625Wh.
