Lake Chiem­see is like a blue beau­ty. Bava­ria’s lar­gest lake, also known as the Bava­ri­an Sea, is nest­led in a dream­li­ke natu­ral set­ting. The Romans alre­a­dy app­re­cia­ted this, and the arch­bi­shops of Salz­burg and the Bava­ri­an dukes loved this magni­fi­cent land­scape just as much. Expe­ri­ence the histo­ry and sto­ries sur­roun­ding deep blue lakes and towe­ring moun­ta­ins, Bava­ri­an cus­toms and culina­ry delights. You have ple­nty of time to immer­se yours­elf in this his­to­ric idyll by bike!

Around the Chiemsee

The Chiem­see cir­cu­lar trail is beau­tiful­ly laid out. It leads to secluded bathing bays as well as to the lively lake­si­de towns. Magni­fi­cent views of the lake open up as you cycle lei­su­re­ly along the shore. The shady beer gar­dens on the shore are ide­al for long breaks. Par­ti­al stages are also pos­si­ble with a spe­cial cycle bus (on your own). 
The Chiem­see

The Bava­ri­an Sea offers many pos­si­bi­li­ties for a won­derful day out. You can take a boat to the islands of Her­ren­chiem­see (King Lud­wi­g’s Palace) and Frau­en­chiem­see. Of cour­se, the­re are also num­e­rous bathing spots for a rela­xing day. 
Chiem­see — Inzell

The moun­ta­ins get hig­her and hig­her, but the cycle rou­te remains almost flat. The rou­te leads through Ber­ge­ner Moos at the foot of the Chiem­gau’s local moun­tain, the Hoch­felln (1,674 m), via Bad Adel­hol­zen with its heal­ing spring to Siegs­dorf. From the­re it con­ti­nues along the red Traun river to idyl­lic Inzell. The Lüftl­ma­le­rei pain­tings on the flower-deco­ra­ted town hou­ses cha­rac­te­ri­ze the cli­ma­tic health resort. 
Inzell — Bad Reichenhall

The rou­te runs nar­row­ly bet­ween the moun­ta­ins via Piding around the Hochstau­fen and along the Saal­ach to Bad Rei­chen­hall. Bad Rei­chen­hall has been a reco­gni­zed health resort and spa town sin­ce 1890. The local salt works mar­kets its Rei­chen­hall brand salt throug­hout Ger­ma­ny and bey­ond. Oppor­tu­ni­ty for a well­ness day or a trip up the 1,600 m high Pre­digt­stuhl with the legen­da­ry oldest cable car in the world. 
Bad Rei­chen­hall — Berchtesgaden/Königssee
Distanz: 25 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Short cycle stage to Berch­tes­ga­den with the oppor­tu­ni­ty to visit the Ober­salz­berg and the Eagle’s Nest. Or you can cycle a few kilo­me­ters fur­ther to Königs­see and take a rela­xing boat trip on the famous lake to visit Bar­tho­lo­mä Monas­tery at the foot of the migh­ty Watz­mann massif.

Additional information

Tour cha­rac­ter
An easy tour over­all with short stages and only a few clim­bs. Only slight­ly hil­ly in sec­tions. Won­derful rou­te on cycle paths, farm tracks and side roads. Very short sec­tions on roads with hea­vier traffic. 
Arrival/parking/departure
Ber­nau or Prien train sta­ti­on, Salz­burg or Munich air­port. Par­king Ber­nau: free public par­king lot or public par­king lot at the train sta­ti­on, cos­ts approx. 21,- per week. Par­king in Aschau: Limi­t­ed num­ber of free hotel par­king spaces. 
High­lights
Lake Chiem­see has a lot to offer, such as King Lud­wi­g’s Cast­le on Her­ren­in­sel and the monas­tery on Frau­en­in­sel. The oldest cable car in the world awaits you in Bad Rei­chen­hall, so don’t for­get to stop off at a beer garden. 
Other notes
To ensu­re a stress-free start to the trip, we recom­mend arri­ving at the start­ing point by ear­ly evening in most cases. Some tours start as ear­ly as mid­day, in which case we recom­mend arri­ving the day befo­re and will be hap­py to book an extra night for you at the same time. The indi­vi­du­al return jour­ney takes place on the last day of the tour. The kilo­me­ters are appro­xi­ma­te and may dif­fer from the actu­al kilo­me­ters cover­ed. This tour is not sui­ta­ble for peo­p­le with redu­ced mobility. 
Mini­mum num­ber of participants
If a mini­mum num­ber of par­ti­ci­pan­ts is requi­red for the tour to take place, this is sta­ted under Pri­ces and ser­vices. If the mini­mum num­ber of par­ti­ci­pan­ts is not rea­ched, we reser­ve the right to can­cel the trip up to four weeks befo­re the date of arri­val. We recom­mend that you do not orga­ni­ze your arri­val and depar­tu­re until after this dead­line has passed.
