This long-distance hike has been deve­lo­ped for indi­vi­du­al tra­ve­lers who like to tra­vel on their own. It can be com­bi­ned with our stage hike from Gen­oa to Ses­tri Levan­te. You start in Ses­tri Levan­te and reach Por­to­ve­ne­re as your last stop on day 6. The paths take you through the most beau­tiful land­scapes along the Ligu­ri­an coast and through the UNESCO Cin­que Terre Natio­nal Park. Accom­mo­da­ti­on is in small hotels or guest­hou­ses, break­fast and a deli­cious din­ner are included, as well as a road book describ­ing all the walks in detail. Lug­ga­ge trans­fer from one accom­mo­da­ti­on to the next is also provided.

Hier sind Treppenstufen mit verwachsenen Pflanzen zwischen den Steinen zu sehen die einen Berg hoch gehen. Zusehen sind nur die Schuhe von einem Wanderer mit Wanderstock der den Berg hochgeht. Rechts auf dem Bild ist das Meer zusehen.

Itinerary / Stages

Indi­vi­du­al arri­val in Riva Tri­go­so / Ses­tri Levante
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Arri­val by train in Ses­tri Levan­te or Riva Tri­go­so, near Ses­tri Levan­te and check-in at the accom­mo­da­ti­on. On arri­val you will recei­ve the road book with all the maps and descrip­ti­ons you need for the hikes over the next few days. Din­ner is reser­ved in a love­ly restau­rant in the vil­la­ge, whe­re deli­cious Ligu­ri­an spe­cial­ties are served. 
Riva Tri­go­so / Ses­tri Levan­te — Moneglia
Distanz: 10 km Höhe (+): 400m Höhe (-): 0m
This mor­ning you start your first hike in the direc­tion of Mone­glia, a char­ming litt­le town right by the sea. You hike along a quiet path through Medi­ter­ra­ne­an vege­ta­ti­on up to a for­mer view­point. You will reach your desti­na­ti­on of Mone­glia after around 3 hours of wal­king (distance 10 km/ascent around 400 m abo­ve sea level). Accom­mo­da­ti­on in Mone­glia will be in a 3* hotel, for exam­p­le Hotel Vil­la Argen­ti­na. This love­ly, fami­ly-run hotel is loca­ted in the heart of the town. The ele­gant vil­la is sur­roun­ded by a beau­tiful gar­den. The rooms are com­for­ta­b­ly fur­nis­hed and the restau­rant offers fine dis­hes and local wines. 
Mone­glia — Framu­ra — Bonassola
Distanz: 21 km Höhe (+): 1300m Höhe (-): 0m
After a hear­ty break­fast, you con­ti­nue your hike. Today you will tack­le one of the lon­gest rou­tes, but you will be reward­ed with won­derful views. First you head to Dei­va Mari­na, then to Framu­ra and Bonas­so­la, whe­re you plan to spend the night. The wal­king time today is around 6 hours. But if it gets too long for you, you can always hop on the train and tra­vel the rest of the way to Bonas­so­la, as all the towns are con­nec­ted to each other by regio­nal train. In Bonas­so­la, we have cho­sen simp­le but com­for­ta­ble accom­mo­da­ti­on, such as the Pen­si­on Moder­na in the town cen­ter. Just 100 meters from the beach, sur­roun­ded by beau­tiful tro­pi­cal plants, the Pen­si­on Moder­na offers a ter­race, gar­den and free Wi-Fi. Dinner. 
Bonas­so­la — Levan­to — Monterosso
Distanz: 20 km Höhe (+): 700m Höhe (-): 0m
Today you con­ti­nue to Levan­to, a char­ming town that you reach on a won­derful pan­o­r­amic path or, if you choo­se the shorter opti­on, through a for­mer tun­nel sys­tem with slight­ly fewer views. This mor­ning you can take a dip in the sea befo­re set­ting off in the after­noon. Today’s hike takes around 3 hours and takes you direct­ly into the Cin­que Terre Natio­nal Park. You hike abo­ve the first vil­la­ge of the Cin­que Terre, Mon­terosso, and reach your hotel, whe­re din­ner is also boo­ked. Total wal­king time 5 hours (20 km, ascent approx. 700 m). The hotel is loca­ted in the coun­try­si­de, a few kilo­me­ters abo­ve the vil­la­ge in a quiet area. The break­fast buf­fet is set up in the gar­den in fine wea­ther and offers home­ma­de cakes, cold cuts and cheese. The faci­li­ty offers free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV with Sky chan­nels and colorful rooms with par­quet flo­o­ring. Each room has a view of the gar­den. The restau­rant ser­ves fresh fish and meat, and guests can also dine out­side in fine wea­ther. A trans­fer ser­vice will take you to the cen­ter of Mon­terosso on request (must be boo­ked and paid for direct­ly on site). The public bus stops near­by a few times a day. 
Mon­terosso — Cor­nig­lia — Volastra
Distanz: 19 km Höhe (+): 900m Höhe (-): 0m
Day 5: A stre­nuous hike today takes you to a pil­grimage church high abo­ve Ver­naz­za, and later down to the pic­tures­que vil­la­ge of Ver­naz­za, ano­ther Cin­que Terre vil­la­ge. After a lunch break, you hike on to Cor­nig­lia (also part of the Cin­que Terre), whe­re the path leads through viney­ards and offers unfor­gettable views time and again. You will reach the ham­let of Volas­tra, whe­re you will spend the night in a fami­ly-run hotel. Din­ner will be ser­ved in the hotel’s restau­rant. Wal­king time approx. 6 hours. (19 km, ascent approx. 900 m) 
Volas­tra — Por­to­ve­ne­re — La Spezia
Distanz: 20 km Höhe (+): 300m Höhe (-): 0m
At the end, ano­ther long hike awaits you, which will again offer uni­que pan­o­r­amic views. We recom­mend an ear­ly start. The hiking trail first takes you to the pil­grimage church of Mon­ten­ero and you won’t be able to get enough of the fan­ta­stic views of the vil­la­ges of Mana­ro­la and Riom­ag­gio­re. The trail then leads through viney­ards and oak forests to the small vil­la­ge of Cam­pi­glia. From here you can see both the port of La Spe­zia and out to sea. You walk for ano­ther 2 hours on a beau­tiful path, which then des­cends to Por­to­ve­ne­re, the end of your hiking tour! After a stroll through the colorful town, take the boat or bus to La Spe­zia, whe­re you will spend the last night of this trip, for exam­p­le at Hotel Vene­zia or Hotel Geno­va. Din­ner today is orde­red in a typi­cal restau­rant in the city center.

Tour mar­keter
A medi­um-dif­fi­cul­ty coas­tal hike of a good 7 km in length, with an ascent of around 300,320 meters, which leads through sec­tions of forest and Medi­ter­ra­ne­an vege­ta­ti­on. The trail starts with steps and a steep ascent, then cros­ses a ridge with spec­ta­cu­lar views of the cliffs and ends with a steep des­cent over rocky steps. Sure­foo­ted­ness and a mode­ra­te level of fit­ness are recommended. 
Arri­val
From the north (A12/E80): Take the Ses­tri Levan­te exit and fol­low the signs for Riva Tri­go­so or Ses­tri Levan­te. The towns are loca­ted direct­ly on the coast; the roads lead you through the cen­ter of Ses­tri Levan­te to Riva Tri­go­so. From the south (A12/E80): Lea­ve the high­way at the Recco/La Spe­zia exit and fol­low the signs to Riva Tri­go­so. The rou­te leads along the coast to the east. Access by public trans­por­ta­ti­on: Train: The­re are trains from Geno­va or La Spe­zia to Ses­tri Levan­te. From the­re, take a local bus or cab to Riva Tri­go­so. Bus: Local bus lines con­nect Ses­tri Levan­te with Riva Tri­go­so. Check cur­rent time­ta­bles as the­se can vary depen­ding on the day.
