Cinque Terre — Vineyards with sea views

from 1.195,- per person

On our most popular hiking tour, we explore the famous coastline of Liguria with its picturesque villages on spectacular hiking trails. The combination of activity and enjoyment is delightful, as we also experience the wines and get to know the delicious Ligurian cuisine. Our hikes not only take in the famous five villages by the sea, but Portofino and the Ligurian coast north of the Cinque Terre are also on the program. Our cozy villa hotel is located in Moneglia, a place with a special Mediterranean charm, where we will be spoiled with culinary delights.

Itinerary / Stages

Saturday: Benvenuti in Liguria!
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Travel to Moneglia on your own. In the early evening, you will be welcomed at the hotel by the hotel owner’s family and the hiking guide. An aperitif together will get you in the mood for an enjoyable week of hiking in Liguria. First Ligurian dinner.
Sunday: On a herb trail to a young winegrower near Framura
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 400m Höhe (-): 400m
As the perfect introduction to the Liguria region, your hike begins today in Bonassola, just a short train ride from Moneglia. A panoramic trail starts here, which offers magnificent views as well as a special feature: A variety of wild herbs grow here, from wild asparagus, thyme and mountain savory to mint and myrtle, which are also used in the local cuisine. Once you arrive in Framura, you will meet Emilio, a young winegrower, who will first show you his beautifully situated vineyards and gardens, naturally with a sea view. You will then enjoy a tasting of his products, most of which come from his own garden, accompanied by his wines full of character. Emilio also produces fine olive oil. You then descend through the picturesque districts of Framura to the train station. If the weather is fine, there will even be time for a refreshing dip in the sea!
Monday: Corniglia Manarola: the wine of the Cinque Terre
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 400m Höhe (-): 400m
Today you travel by train to Corniglia, the smallest of the Cinque Terre villages. It is elevated above the sea and has retained its original character. Your hike takes you through the heart of the area, where the characteristic terraced vineyards are particularly visible. Here you will gain an insight into how the Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, came into being. Because wine has made this territory what it is today: an impressive cultural landscape steeply above the sea, divided by dry stone walls with a total length of around 7,000 km, all created over centuries of painstaking manual work. The views are simply overwhelming: down by the sea, the colorful houses of the five villages are crammed on top of each other. Afterwards, a special experience awaits you in Manarola: a professional wine tasting with a sommelier. You will taste various wines from the Cinque Terre, accompanied by a small snack. Afterwards, there will be time for a stroll through this picturesque village.
Tuesday: Monterosso Vernazza: vineyards with a sea view
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 550m Höhe (-): 550m
Take the train to Monterosso, the largest village in the Cinque Terre, where you will have time for a short stroll. You then start your hike, which takes you through fragrant Mediterranean maquis, lemon gardens and olive groves. Along the way, you will enjoy magnificent panoramic views over the sea. You will pass two beautiful Marian pilgrimage churches, where there are shady spots for a picnic under huge, ancient trees. In the afternoon, the Cheo winery awaits you in Vernazza, perhaps the most picturesque village in the Cinque Terre. Here you will enjoy a wine tasting, during which you will also get to know the valuable Passito wine Sciacchetrà. Afterwards, you will have some free time to explore the village on your own.
Wednesday: Dolce far niente! A day at leisure!
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Today you can spend the day as you wish. Enjoy a relaxing day at the beach in Moneglia or take the opportunity for an excursion. How about a visit to Liguria’s capital Genoa, which has a lot to offer culturally? Alternatively, the famous cities of Pisa or Lucca are tempting, or you can explore the many charming towns along the Ligurian coast. We will be happy to help you with tips and organize private boat tours on request to experience the coast from the sea. Dinner is also free on this day, so you can discover the local cuisine on your own.
Thursday: around Riomaggiore: panoramic hike, wine and boat trip
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 500m Höhe (-): 500m
An absolute highlight awaits you today — a day full of superlatives! You will experience a wonderful panoramic hike, an unforgettable boat trip and taste exceptional wines in a truly special place. In the morning, take the train to Riomaggiore. From here, you climb up an ancient path that takes you past the ruins of the village from which the present-day town once emerged. Your path continues to wind through olive groves and oak woods until you reach a picturesque little hamlet late in the afternoon. Here, in a wonderful location with a magnificent sea view, a family has realized their dream: they have restored abandoned wine terraces and now run them as an organic farm. In addition to vines, a variety of herbs and historic fruit varieties grow here; there are chickens, bees and even donkeys. In this magical place, you will taste special wines that tell you a lot about their unique territory. You then descend again to Riomaggiore, passing an old pilgrimage church. The day is crowned with a boat trip along the coast of the Cinque Terre. Here you can review all your hikes in this beautiful area from a completely new perspective.
Portofino Peninsula: hike, hermitage, slow food
Distanz: 8 km Höhe (+): 300m Höhe (-): 300m
Today you start your day in Santa Margherita Ligure, an elegant seaside resort with long beaches, grand hotels and lovely cafés. From here, your hiking trail begins in the Portofino nature reserve. The route takes you through a varied landscape, sometimes through shady woods, sometimes past small hamlets and old mills. Around midday, you will reach an idyllic, ancient hermitage just above Portofino. A lovingly prepared lunch awaits you there. Afterwards, you will have time to stroll through Portofino before taking the boat back to Santa Margherita Ligure and enjoying the breathtaking coastline from the water once again. A special highlight awaits you on the evening of the last day of your trip: a themed dinner with Slow Food specialties prepared by your hotel’s chef. This is a wonderful end to your trip, perfect for reflecting on the impressions of the last few days.
Saturday: Arrivederci e alle prossima!
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
A wonderful trip comes to an end. However, you are welcome to request an extension after your hike.
