Feuer und Eis partner tour

Cross-country magic in the heart of the Salzkammergut 5 days

from 509,- per person

Skiing along frozen lakes, through the winter forest or close to an arena of two-thousand-metre peaks — the winter landscape of the southern Salzkammergut is as varied as you could wish for. This impressive natural backdrop also provides the perfect setting when it comes to traditional mountain hut cuisine and relaxation in the local spas. Perfectly groomed trails for both classic and skating styles offer ideal conditions for a perfect cross-country skiing experience. When the snow crunches under your boots in the glistening white landscape, winter in the Salzkammergut makes you really happy. Gliding instead of rushing — time to look around, chat and still be active: that’s what makes cross-country skiing so enjoyable. You can look forward to a week that is both sporty and active as well as leisurely and relaxed in one of Austria’s most attractive vacation regions.

Itinerary / Stages

Day 1
Individual arrival in the spa town of Bad Ischl
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Travel by car or public transport to Bad Ischl. The pretty town on the River Traun became very popular when Emperor Franz Joseph regularly spent his vacations here in the 19th century. The imperial family’s stay helped the town to develop into an attractive vacation resort and it still offers an attractive range of leisure activities today. Overnight stay in Bad Ischl
Day 2
Rettenbachalm snow hole
Distanz: 10 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
One of the largest low mountain pastures in Europe, the Rettenbachalm, is overlooked by the rocks of the Totes Gebirge. A forest road leads to the cross-country skiing center just six kilometers from Bad Ischl. Picturesque rustic huts are scattered across the wide valley floor. Cross-country skiing fans get their money’s worth here. Ten kilometers of perfectly groomed trails in all levels of difficulty open up a varied and impressive sporting experience. Take the cab transfer organized for you to the Rettenbachalm or drive your own car. Back in Bad Ischl, you can relax in the Eurotherme spa. Overnight stay in Bad Ischl
Day 3
Panorama Nova high-altitude trail above Bad Goisern
Distanz: 27 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
In the morning, transfer including luggage, or drive with your own car, to the hotel in Bad Goisern, an ideal base for winter sports. To get to the start of the cross-country ski trail, take the six-kilometre panoramic road towards Predigtstuhl. From the high-altitude trail at 1000 meters, there is a magnificent view of the Salzkammergut World Heritage Site with the Dachstein Glacier and Lake Hallstatt. A total of 27 kilometers of moderately easy to very challenging trails are available. Interesting delicacies include the World Cup cross-country ski trail — especially for experts — and an impressive suspension bridge that serves as a link between two trails. Overnight stay in Bad Goisern.
Day 4
Cross-country skiing in the Gosau Valley
Distanz: 10 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
The long, idyllically situated high valley stretches from Lake Hallstatt to the west side of the Dachstein, where it reaches its magnificent conclusion with the rocky peaks of the wildly rugged Gosaukamm. Along this Alpine panorama, past snow-covered peaks and summits, stretches the wide, very sunny network of cross-country trails of all levels of difficulty. Thanks to the average altitude of the mountain valley of 780 meters and the generally high snow guarantee, cross-country skiing is a real treat. The ski bus takes you comfortably to Gosau and back to Bad Goisern.
Day 5
Individual departure from Bad Goisern
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Individual departure or extra nights can be booked.
