from 1.128,- per person

If you don’t want to end your crossing of the Alps in Sterzing, but want to hike on to idyllic Merano, this route is perfect for you. The tour starts in Fügen, at the gateway to the Zillertal, and first takes you up on the Spieljochbahn cable car. From there, you hike via Hochfügen, Mayrhofen and the Pfitscher Joch to Sterzing, where you can already feel the first Italian flair. The route then continues south to Merano, which enchants with its picturesque alleyways and palm trees. You will experience impressive natural landscapes on predominantly easy to moderately difficult hiking trails. After each stage, you can relax in comfortable 3- to 4‑star hotels or guesthouses. This 8‑day pleasure hike combines the warmth of Tyrol with the vineyards of South Tyrol. Make your dream of crossing the Alps come true and embark on this unforgettable experience!

Today’s hike takes you through a special alpine region that offers rare insights into traditional alpine farming in the Alps. Surrounded by impressive rocks formed by glaciers, you reach the Sidanjoch. From the nearby Rastkogelhütte, you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama over the Inntal valley, the Karwendel mountains and the Tux Alps. After a short ascent to the Mitterwandskopf, you hike along an idyllic path that leads past glacial landscapes, small pools and a mountain ridge to Melchboden. From there, the public bus takes you comfortably down into the valley via the Zillertaler Höhenstraße. Depending on where you are staying, you can continue by bus or the Zillertalbahn to Aschau or Mayrhofen.
Mayrhofen/Aschau — Schlegeis — Pfitscher Joch — Sterzing
Distanz: 13 km Höhe (+): 480m Höhe (-): 820m
Today the time has finally come: you are crossing the main Alpine ridge and thus the Alps. In the morning, a bus takes you comfortably along the toll road to the Schlegeis reservoir at 1,800 meters above sea level, the starting point of today’s stage. The impressive dam wall, which was built in the 1970s for the energy and water supply, dams one of the largest lakes in Austria, fed by the surrounding glaciers. Shortly before the Pfitscherjochhaus, where you can take a break, you cross the border into Italy and South Tyrol and reach the highest point of the tour at 2,275 meters. The main Alpine ridge is done! The descent takes you through gentle alpine meadows and shady forests into the Pfitschtal valley. From there, take the bus (connections every hour or so) to Sterzing.
Vipiteno — Bressanone — Chiusa

You pass small hamlets and mountain farms on beautiful terraces. The panoramic view of the mighty Dolomite peaks opens up to the south. Following the Keschtnweg trail, you hike through a beautiful, root-covered forest path and then reach Feldthurns. Via Säben Monastery, the acropolis of South Tyrol, the route leads to the Dürer town of Klausen.
Chiusa — Renon — Bolzano
Distanz: 18 km Höhe (+): 670m Höhe (-): 280m
After a short bus transfer to Barbiano, the stage follows the Keschtnweg trail up the Ritten. The panorama is simply stunning. The hike leads across the Ritten high plateau above the Eisack valley with stunning views of the Dolomites, especially the Schlern. The earth pyramids on the Ritten are the highest and most beautiful of their kind in Europe. From Oberbozen you can take the cable car to Bolzano. Nowhere else do Italian and German culture meet as closely as here.
Bolzano — Lana — Merano
Distanz: 19 km Höhe (+): 220m Höhe (-): 240m
After a transfer by public transport, the stage begins in Lana. The hike leads along the famous Marlinger Waalweg. Waale are irrigation ditches that were created several hundred years ago to supply dry corridors with water. The Marlinger Waalweg offers a magnificent view of the Merano basin and, at 11 km, is the longest of its kind in South Tyrol. Below Tyrol Castle, the stage follows the famous Tappeiner Weg to Merano. Centuries-old arcades and beautiful parks invite you to enjoy a pleasant end to the tour in a mild climate.
