Feuer und Eis partner tour

Crossing the Alps — Tirolerweg II Innsbruck — Sterzing

Price on request

The hiking tour takes you from Tyrol to South Tyrol and you cross the main Alpine ridge. You hike in the famous Stubai Valley, in the side valleys of the Wipp Valley and finally in the Pflersch Valley. You hike past numerous alpine pastures with views of the Alps and Dolomites. The route takes you away from the glaciers across the Alps, along old pilgrims’ and smugglers’ paths. You spend the night in small, former mining villages, which now offer wonderful vacations in a well-kept environment.

Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m

You then hike along the Innsbrucker Almenweg to the Kreither Alm and on to the Pfarrachalm, which is located at the foot of the Kalkkögel. The path is easy and you walk mostly on a forest road with views of the Alps. The path up to the Nederjoch summit, where you have a wonderful panoramic view, is a little more challenging. The route down into the valley follows the forest road or hiking trail. The optional tour takes you to the Telfer Wiesen and on to Fulpmes. Overnight stay in Fulpmes.

The route down the valley to Trins follows the forest road or the very steep hiking trail. Alternative: From Maria Waldrast you can also follow the Trinsersteig trail, which is mostly in the forest but has considerably fewer vertical meters. Of course, there are several viewpoints where you can see the Gschnitztal valley. Overnight stay in Trins (Steinach).
Rest day in Steinach/Trins
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m

The route continues steeply up to the Trunajoch at 2,152 meters, where the descent begins past the Lichtsee lake. From here you have a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains and lakes. The route descends into the valley in serpentines with views of the Obernbergtal valley. The hiking trail takes you through alpine pastures and heathland above the tree line, where the border with Italy is located. Down the valley to Gossensaß we follow the military road with many hairpin bends. Accommodation is in Gossensaß or Innerpflersch, which you can reach by bus. Enjoy the magnificent panoramic view of the Dolomites and the tours past the Alpine pastures. There are twenty interesting information boards along the Dolomieu Trail, also known as the Six Alpine Pastures Trail, which inform hikers about the fauna, flora and geology of the area. Interestingly, it was here that the French scientist and adventurer Deodat de Dolomieu discovered the rock named after him, dolomite. Overnight stay in Sterzing.
