Your jour­ney takes you through the fer­ti­le plain of the Gäu­bo­den to the right and the foot­hills of the Bava­ri­an Forest to the left, whe­re the river makes its way south-east. You cycle past Strau­bing, the heart of the Gäu­bo­den, to Deg­gen­dorf, the gate­way to the Bava­ri­an Forest, and final­ly reach the “Venice of the North”, the three-river city of Passau.

Day 1
Indi­vi­du­al arri­val in Regensburg
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Indi­vi­du­al arri­val in Regens­burg. Visit the important monu­ments of the his­to­ric old town (UNESCO World Heri­ta­ge Site) with the Stone Bridge, the oldest bridge in Ger­ma­ny. Ano­ther land­mark is the impo­sing cathe­dral, the con­s­truc­tion of which began in the 8th century. 
Day 2
Regens­burg — Straubing 
Distanz: 55 km Höhe (+): 25m Höhe (-): 28m
Cross the Nibe­lun­gen Bridge and Wal­hal­la Ave­nue to reach the sign­pos­ted cycle rou­te — Tour de Baro­que — and cycle to Donaus­tauf. The famous Wal­hal­la, the temp­le of Ger­man honor, towers over the Danu­be val­ley and can be seen from afar. You cycle on along the Danu­be embank­ment and past the Geis­ling bar­ra­ge to Strau­bing, famous for its baro­que town hou­ses and pic­tures­que town squa­re. The Roman tre­asu­re tro­ve in the Gäu­bo­den Muse­um is world-famous and well worth a visit. The annu­al Gäu­bo­den Fes­ti­val is also very popu­lar (over­night stays from 12.08. to incl. 22.08. the­r­e­fo­re pos­si­bly in Wörth; Regens­burg Wörth approx. 30 km, Wörth Deg­gen­dorf approx. 60 km). 
Day 3
Strau­bing — Deggendorf
Distanz: 40 km Höhe (+): 7m Höhe (-): 23m
Via Ober­al­t­eich you reach the town of Bogen, nest­led bet­ween the Bogen­berg and the Danu­be, it is the gate­way to the Bava­ri­an Forest. The rou­te con­ti­nues to Met­ten, whe­re the monas­tery of the same name is defi­ni­te­ly worth a detour. Today’s over­night stop is Deg­gen­dorf. In addi­ti­on to the town hall with its migh­ty Gothic tower, the town’s land­marks include the two lar­ge parish churches of the Assump­ti­on of the Vir­gin Mary and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. 
Day 4
Deg­gen­dorf — Passau
Distanz: 60 km Höhe (+): 16m Höhe (-): 33m
Today you fol­low the ‑Tour de Baro­que- again. Via Nie­der­al­taich, one of the oldest Bene­dic­ti­ne monas­te­ries in Bava­ria, you reach the small vil­la­ge of Win­zer. The rou­te con­ti­nues to Vils­ho­fen. Cycle along the left bank of the Danu­be to the Kach­let hydro­elec­tric power sta­ti­on. After crossing the Danu­be, you reach the his­to­ric three-river city of Passau.

The cycle paths along the banks of the Danu­be are flat throug­hout. You cycle main­ly on asphal­ted, almost traf­fic-free paths.
