From Königs­see to Wörthersee

We were basi­cal­ly very satis­fied with the tour. It took us along rou­tes that were pre­vious­ly lar­ge­ly unknown to us, with the excep­ti­on of the finish in Vil­lach. Only a few points of cri­ti­cism remain:- Day 6, Mall­nitz — Ober­vel­lach: The dirt road downhill towards Rabisch­schlucht gor­ge was clo­sed due to con­s­truc­tion work, by all out­ward appearan­ces not for the short term but for some time. The­re was no sign­pos­ted detour, as one might have expec­ted accor­ding to the rou­te descrip­ti­on. We found a detour, pos­si­bly the path “slight­ly abo­ve” men­tio­ned in the descrip­ti­on; unfort­u­na­te­ly this path ended abrupt­ly after a while: “Hiking trail clo­sed”. So we had no choice but to con­ti­nue on the main road for at least a quar­ter of an hour, which was not neces­s­a­ri­ly plea­sant. Final­ly, the last sec­tion of the rou­te could not be pas­sed smooth­ly eit­her, as the so-cal­led Römer­weg was par­ti­al­ly clo­sed due to a con­s­truc­tion site that had appar­ent­ly been in place for some time. — The enc­lo­sed “Cur­rent infor­ma­ti­on” on bus con­nec­tions did not always reflect the cur­rent situa­ti­on. This was par­ti­cu­lar­ly serious with the Jam­ni­galm — Sto­cker­hüt­te — Mall­nitz hiking bus: con­tra­ry to the infor­ma­ti­on sheet, the­re was not just one bus in the after­noon, but two; depar­ting from Jam­ni­galm at 3.14 pm and 5.14 pm respec­tively. If you had reli­ed on the infor­ma­ti­on sheet — 17.31 from Jam­ni­galm — you would have been out of luck. The­re were also errors in the infor­ma­ti­on sheet regar­ding the times for the bus con­nec­tions Ober­vel­lach — Grat­schach — Spit­tal an der Drau. — We missed the important sign­post men­tio­ned on page 72 of the tour descrip­ti­on at km 15.2 with the inscrip­ti­on “Bern­lie­ger — Schatt­sei­te — Feld am See”. — The wal­king time of 5.5 hours given for day 9 — Feld am See to Vil­lach — is unrea­li­sti­cal­ly short. Becau­se of the “steep, chal­len­ging climb along the water­fall through the Rap­pitsch­schlucht gor­ge” alo­ne, it takes con­sider­a­b­ly lon­ger; 6.5 hours is more realistic.
