The Chiem­gau Alps lie on the bor­der bet­ween Salz­burg, Tyrol and Bava­ria, with their gent­le moun­ta­ins, exten­si­ve alpi­ne land­scapes and well-known vaca­ti­on resorts. The views of the impo­sing High Alps and the love­ly Alpi­ne foot­hills on the other side make this tour a very varied week of hiking. The most beau­tiful places along this tour cer­tain­ly include the pic­tures­que Königs­see at the begin­ning, the idyl­lic vaca­ti­on resort of Reit im Winkl and the Chiem­see, also known as the Bava­ri­an Sea, at the end.

Indi­vi­du­al jour­ney to Berchtesgaden/Königssee

Arri­ve rela­xed at Königs­see and enjoy the first few hours in a dream­li­ke setting.
Königssee/Berchtesgaden Weißbach/surroundings, Berch­tes­ga­den Natio­nal Park
Distanz: 19 km Höhe (+): 500m Höhe (-): 500m
Trans­fer to the start­ing point. Lei­su­re­ly hiking tour past the Hin­ter­see lake deep into the natio­nal park. The sce­n­ery along the way is impres­si­ve. To your right are the peaks of the Rei­ter Alpe and to your left tho­se of the Hoch­kal­ter. The rou­te takes you across alpi­ne pas­tu­res, past the bor­der sta­ti­on at Hirsch­bichl and down through the roaring Sei­sen­berg­klamm gor­ge into the Saal­ach­tal valley. 
Weißbach/surroundings Lofer, pil­grimage route
Distanz: 14 km Höhe (+): 320m Höhe (-): 370m
You hike in the Saal­ach­tal val­ley to the Lam­p­rechts­höh­le cave (the lon­gest pas­sa­ge cave in Euro­pe) and on to St. Mar­tin, whe­re you climb up to the Maria Kir­chen­tal pil­grimage church. The church is loca­ted in a roman­tic side val­ley, nest­led in the steep slo­pes of the Lofe­rer Stein­ber­ge moun­ta­ins. You soon reach the tran­quil moun­tain vil­la­ge of Lofer on the beau­tiful Tiro­ler Steig, sur­roun­ded by num­e­rous impres­si­ve moun­tain ranges. 
Lofer Reit im Winkl, Lofe­rer Alm
Distanz: 16 km Höhe (+): 740m Höhe (-): 600m
Take the cable car to the Lofe­rer Alm, whe­re the high-alti­tu­de trail to the Stein­plat­te beg­ins. You hike across alpi­ne mea­dows and through a beau­tiful moun­tain forest to the Lofe­rer Stein­plat­te. The idyl­li­cal­ly situa­ted Winklmoos Alm is temp­ting with a Bava­ri­an snack. Well for­ti­fied, you take the bus to Reit im Winkl. 
Cir­cu­lar hike Reit im Winkl Klau­sen­bach­klamm gorge
Distanz: 9 km Höhe (+): 250m Höhe (-): 250m
Enjoy a quiet day in the well-known vaca­ti­on resort of Reit im Winkl. Take a cir­cu­lar hike and fol­low our hiking tip through the Klau­sen­bach­klamm gor­ge. In the after­noon, visit the schnapps muse­um and take a stroll through the tran­quil Bava­ri­an village. 
Reit i. Winkl Unterwössen/Marquartstein, Alpi­ne pastures
Distanz: 16 km Höhe (+): 700m Höhe (-): 840m
The eye of the Chiem­see, as one poet cal­led the Tau­ben­see. Anyo­ne who visits this won­derful moun­tain lake, which lies in a hol­low in the Rau­hen Nadel at 1,138 m, can under­stand and empa­thi­ze with his enthu­si­asm. A fan­ta­stic day tour from alpi­ne pas­tu­re to alpi­ne pas­tu­re down into the Achen­tal val­ley awaits you. 
Unterwössen/Marquartstein Prien/surroundings, Kampenwand
Distanz: 12 km Höhe (+): 730m Höhe (-): 230m
A short ascent, then hike uphill through the forest to the alpi­ne pas­tu­res of the Hoch­plat­te and the Kam­pen­wand, whe­re you can see Lake Chiem­see. Con­ti­nue along the hiking trail from hut to hut below the Kam­pen­wand, who­se rock-crow­ned sum­mit is ador­ned with a 12-met­re-high iron cross. The cable car takes you com­for­ta­b­ly down into the val­ley to Aschau, from whe­re you can reach Lake Chiem­see in a short train ride.

Arri­val
Train jour­ney to Berch­tes­ga­den and then a short bus or cab ride to Schönau/Königssee (approx. 15 minu­tes, depen­ding on your start­ing hotel).
Tour cha­rac­ter
You can expect hiking tours of 4 to 6 hours with short, steep clim­bs for which a good basic level of fit­ness is requi­red. In addi­ti­on to the high-alti­tu­de trails, more lei­su­re­ly vari­ants are also offe­red. You hike on good hiking trails and forest paths. Sure­foo­ted­ness is requi­red in some places. 
Other notes
To ensu­re a stress-free start to the trip, we recom­mend arri­ving at the start­ing point by ear­ly evening in most cases. Some tours start as ear­ly as mid­day, in which case we recom­mend arri­ving the day befo­re and will be hap­py to book an extra night for you at the same time. The indi­vi­du­al return jour­ney takes place on the last day of the tour. The kilo­me­ters are appro­xi­ma­te and may dif­fer from the actu­al kilo­me­ters cover­ed. This tour is not sui­ta­ble for peo­p­le with redu­ced mobility. 
Mini­mum num­ber of participants
If a mini­mum num­ber of par­ti­ci­pan­ts is requi­red for the tour to take place, this is sta­ted under Pri­ces and ser­vices. If the mini­mum num­ber of par­ti­ci­pan­ts is not rea­ched, we reser­ve the right to can­cel the trip up to four weeks befo­re the date of arri­val. We recom­mend that you do not orga­ni­ze your arri­val and depar­tu­re until after this dead­line has passed.
