Inn Cycle Path — From St. Moritz to Rosenheim

from 1.559,- per person

When someone goes on a journey, they have a story to tell — this is how you could briefly characterize the route from the origin of the Inn cycle path to Rosenheim. Accompanied by numerous three-thousand-metre peaks, you first cycle along the still playfully babbling Inn stream, past the Engadine lakes and along rugged rock faces towards Tyrol. As you continue, the Inn cycle path mostly follows the course of the river. The Tyrolean Inn Valley now widens noticeably and shortly before you reach the provincial capital of Innsbruck, the Upper Inn Valley merges into the Lower Inn Valley. The Alpine metropolis of Innsbruck lies gently nestled in the valley basin and benevolently offers visitors its cultural treasures. The Inn Cycle Path continues downstream and you soon reach the salt town of Hall with its famous mint. The mighty giant with its impressive exhibitions of crystalline works of art in the garden of the Swarovski Crystal Worlds and the delightful glass-blowing town of Rattenberg provide a sparkling change of pace. The historically significant towns line the banks of the Inn like graceful pearls and with a view of Kufstein Fortress, you bid farewell to the Tyrolean mountain scenery and cycle towards your destination of Rosenheim!

Itinerary / Stages

Day 1
Individual arrival in St. Moritz
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
While St. Moritz impresses in winter with glamorous highlights in a white winter dress, the climatically favorable small town located directly on the lake of the same name also scores points in the warmer season with a variety of outdoor sports activities as well as music and cultural festivals. Enjoy the prelude to your cycle tour in the world-famous metropolis and let yourself be enchanted by the sophisticated flair against a beautiful mountain backdrop
Day 2
St. Moritz — Zernez
Distanz: 60 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
With a short transfer to the Maloja Pass, you now start your day’s stage at an altitude of over 1,800 m above sea level. From the Maloja Pass, you can still enjoy the special experience of seeing the Inn (En) gushing out of the mountain massif as a gentle, virgin trickle. From now on, you follow the playful Inn stream along the Engadin lakes, today mostly uphill and downhill on technically more challenging forest and meadow paths. Zernez, the geographical link between the Upper and Lower Engadin, welcomes you to a wide valley floor at the confluence of the Inn and Spöl rivers.
Day 3
Zernez — Pfunds
Distanz: 65 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Today’s stage is full of lush mountain meadows with the heart of Engadin local culture. You cycle along the northern foothills of the oldest European Alpine National Park, with the cold, shimmering Inn river always in view. Pretty villages, in particular Guarda, shine with sgraffito-decorated house walls and are a real eye-catcher, while a well-preserved ruined settlement structure near Lavin from the early 12th century points to an ancient settlement in the Engadin. The route to Martina leads briefly along the main road through the border area between the Engadin and the Tyrolean Oberland. You then cycle past the former border and customs station of Altfinstermünz and continue along the cycle path to Pfunds
Day 4
Pfunds — Imst
Distanz: 60 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Today’s stage begins in Pfunds, the so-called Engadine Window. You cycle through the Upper Court from Ried via Prutz to the district town of Landeck. High above the Inn river, which rushes through rocky gorges, sits the historic Landeck Castle, which now tells of the glorious times of the former trading metropolis on the north/south axis in its museum rooms. Via Zams and through the Milser-Auen landscape you reach the fountain town of Imst, which is known far beyond its borders for the Imst carnival, a traditionally cultivated Schemenlauf, and is on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
Day 5
Imst — Innsbruck
Distanz: 65 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
From Imst to the heart of the Alps, today you cycle through the Imst gorge along the Inn river to Roppen to the Römerbadl, where you can refresh your cycling legs after a short cure in the Kneipp facility before visiting the Cistercian monastery of Stams Abbey. The Romanesque building not only impresses with its early Baroque high altar, the monks also know how to prepare tasty dishes with the delicious fruits of the region. The Inn cycle path continues through pine forests, along meadows and forest edges, full of contrasts, until you reach Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol, on a flat path past the imposing Martinswand!
Day 6
Adventure day in Innsbruck
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
The meeting of mountain and city gives the lively university town an alpine-urban lifestyle — the powerful Inn river provides the necessary dose of dynamism. In both summer and winter, sports and culture enthusiasts will find a wide variety of ways to spend their leisure time. Embark on a voyage of discovery in the historically evolved Innsbruck — always conscious of its identity — with its famous Golden Roof, which poses courtly in the middle of the well-kept medieval old town and the pretty imperial buildings. If you don’t want your bike to rest today, you will find plenty of opportunities to prove your athleticism in the impressive skyline around Innsbruck
Day 7
Innsbruck — Kramsach and surroundings
Distanz: 55 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Today’s stage promises glorious experiences on completely flat cycle paths close to the Inn river. You cycle downstream towards Hall in Tirol, the former saltworks town with its glorious minting history, and soon reach the iconic giant in the artistically designed park of the Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens. Inspired by the power and charisma of the crystals, the constantly reinventing ensemble in and around the giant is a must-see on this day’s stage. Kramsach, famous for its red marble, the Golden Roof in Innsbruck and the Palace of Justice in Munich, is also home to a quirky museum cemetery. A fun afternoon is guaranteed.
Day 8
From Kramsach and surroundings via Kufstein — Rosenheim
Distanz: 70 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
On to the finale! The Inn cycle path leads you further along the Inn river deeper into the Tyrolean lowlands. A visit to the glass-blowing town of Rattenberg is definitely worthwhile, but you should make sure you time it well, as at midday you can hear the world’s largest open-air organ playing from Kufstein Fortress. At Kufstein, you also say goodbye to the Alps, which have always accompanied you from the start of your journey, and cycle mostly on embankment paths through another protected landscape area of the Inn floodplains towards your destination of Rosenheim. At the confluence of the Mangfall and Inn rivers in Rosenheim, the 3rd largest city in Upper Bavaria welcomes you warmly
