Feuer und Eis own tour

Innsbruck — Brenner — Cortina — Venice

from 1.082,- per person

Starting from the three-time Olympic city of Innsbruck, the route heads south via the Brenner Pass. On cycle paths, cycle routes or small side roads, active leisure cyclists experience two countries with their tourist regions and many outstanding natural and cultural beauties. Innsbruck-Venice leads via Innsbruck (start of the tour) and through the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites and Treviso to the Doge’s Palaces and canals of the lagoon city of Venice. Cycle-friendly hosts, service providers and transport companies offer a wide range of services along the entire route.

Itinerary / Stages

Day 1
Journey to Innsbruck
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Welcome to the 3‑time Olympic city. While the Alpine city is known far and wide as a popular winter sports destination with a very special flair, you will be surprised by the colorful ambience that awaits you here in the warm season. Allow yourself enough time to enjoy Innsbruck’s cultural diversity.
Day 2
Innsbruck — Mühlbach
Distanz: 67 km Höhe (+): 237m Höhe (-): 842m
Today’s route begins with a trip by train or bus to the Brenner Pass, the border between Austria and Italy and at the same time the watershed and cultural axis. Only a few buildings remain as reminders of the former border. From the Brenner Pass, you cycle along the old railroad line to the Fugger town of Sterzing and on to Franzensfeste. From here, the cycle path leads eastwards to Mühlbach at the entrance to the South Tyrolean Puster Valley.
Day 3
Rio Pusteria — Alta Pusteria
Distanz: 55 km Höhe (+): 549m Höhe (-): 176m
Today you follow the cycle path along the Rienz river through the Mühlbacher Klause and further along the lower Pustertal valley to Bruneck. If there is still time in the morning, we recommend a visit to the Folklore Museum in Dietenheim, which documents rural life, culture and customs in South Tyrol. From Bruneck you cycle along the cycle path along the Rienz river to the Hochpustertal valley, your destination for today.
Day 4
Alta Pusteria — Cortina
Distanz: 35 km Höhe (+): 378m Höhe (-): 302m
Today you follow the cycle path on the former Dolomite railroad through the Höhlenstein valley past Lake Toblach and the war cemetery, which commemorates the First World War. Shortly afterwards, a unique panoramic view of the Three Peaks rock formation opens up before you reach Lake Dürrensee. The cycle path climbs slightly to the border between the provinces of Bolzano and Belluno. Now you cycle comfortably downhill on the former railroad line and reach the Dolomite town of Cortina d’Ampezzo with its fantastic mountain scenery. The former mountain village is also known as the “Queen of the Dolomites”, as you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains from here. It is therefore not surprising that the small community developed into a fashionable vacation resort as early as the 19th century.
Day 5
Cortina — Pieve di Cadore
Distanz: 55 km Höhe (+): 222m Höhe (-): 1000m
The old railroad line has been converted into a cycle path. You follow the route comfortably through the Boite valley to Pieve di Cadore.
Day 6
Pieve di Cadore — Longarone
Distanz: 55 km Höhe (+): 371m Höhe (-): 771m
Continue along the Piave river until shortly before Belluno (an excursion to the ‑little Venice in the mountains- is possible), here you leave your companion and cycle along the Lago di Santa Croce, the second largest lake in Veneto after Lake Garda and a popular excursion destination due to its turquoise blue water and sandy beach. However, you can continue through the historic Vittorio Veneto to the medieval town of Conegliano. Magnificent villas and palazzi still characterize the town today.
Day 7
Longarone — Treviso
Distanz: 50 km Höhe (+): 94m Höhe (-): 146m
Now you leave the Alps behind you for good and cycle through the fertile plain. Everything that tastes good is grown here, but special attention is paid to the famous radicchio, the famous red salad from Treviso. The city is also known as ‑città delle aque- because of its branching canals in the center. Take a stroll along these waterways and discover many a cozy spot.
Day 8
Treviso — Venice/Mestre
Distanz: 45 km Höhe (+): 5m Höhe (-): 20m
First, the beautifully laid out cycle path leads along the River Sile. Only 95 kilometers long, but a famous river, as mentioned by Dante Alighieri in the Divine Comedy. Now the destination of your journey draws ever closer. Quiet side roads lead you to your accommodation on the mainland off Venice with excellent bus connections to the lagoon city. Now it’s time to toast the journey with a glass of wine — preferably right on St. Mark’s Square!
Day 9
Individual departure
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Individual departure or possibility of extension.
