Inns­bruck — Salz­burg: Alpi­ne Cycle Route

You cycle along the main Alpi­ne ridge from Inns­bruck on the Inn Cycle Path into the Zil­ler­tal. In bet­ween, you can visit small his­to­ric towns with beau­tiful streets and sights. You cycle deep into the Zil­ler­tal, whe­re you can soon see the migh­ty peaks with their gla­ciers. You then take a cab over the Ger­los Pass into Salz­bur­ger Land. You fol­low the Salz­ach river, with the Hohe Tau­ern Natio­nal Park on your right and the love­ly Grasber­ge moun­ta­ins on your left. You cycle through a still rural land­scape with small and lar­ger vil­la­ges. As the val­ley widens, you come to the beau­tiful Zel­ler­see lake, whe­re the snow-cap­ped moun­ta­ins are reflec­ted. You now con­ti­nue cycling in the Saal­ach­tal val­ley past Saal­fel­den, whe­re you have the impres­si­ve Stei­ner­ne Meer in your field of visi­on. Along the rou­te you will find impres­si­ve gor­ges and caves and in Bad Rei­chen­hall a nice old town with seve­ral sights. Final­ly, a high­light, the fes­ti­val city of Salzburg.

You lea­ve Inns­bruck by fol­lo­wing the Inn Val­ley cycle path along the Inn. Cycle past his­to­ric small towns with high moun­ta­ins to the left and right towards Zil­ler­tal. The Crys­tal Worlds in Wat­tens are well worth a visit 
Zil­ler­tal-Ger­los­pass-Krimml
Distanz: 40 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Cycle lei­su­re­ly into the Zil­ler­tal. In Zell am Zil­ler you then take a cab over the Ger­los Pass to Krimml. If you wish, you can cycle a litt­le along the old pass road down to Wald or Krimml. Krimml is world-famous for the Krimml Water­falls in the Hohe Tau­ern Natio­nal Park. You should defi­ni­te­ly visit them. 
Krimml — Zell am See

Beau­tiful flat stage in the Salz­ach val­ley. You cycle past well-known win­ter sports resorts through the mea­dows and fields along the Salz­ach. The views of the Hohe Tau­ern and the Pinz­gau grass moun­ta­ins are impres­si­ve and you can visit the Natio­nal Park Cen­ter in Mit­ter­sill. The tour ends at the love­ly Zel­ler­see lake, which reflects the snow-cap­ped moun­ta­ins. If you wish, you can take a boat trip here.

Tour cha­rac­ter
You cycle most­ly along the rivers and the­re are only minor clim­bs and des­cents in bet­ween. The jour­ney over the Ger­los Pass is by cab. The rou­tes are sign­pos­ted and easy to find. A good basic level of fit­ness is suf­fi­ci­ent for this tour. 
Arrival/Departure
Inns­bruck and Salz­burg are easy to reach by train, car or pla­ne. Unfort­u­na­te­ly the­re is no free par­king, but you can park in a par­king gara­ge. Euro 10,- per day from 6 days! Paya­ble on site at the hotel 
Other notes
To ensu­re a stress-free start to the trip, we recom­mend arri­ving at the start­ing point by ear­ly evening in most cases. Some tours start as ear­ly as mid­day, in which case we recom­mend arri­ving the day befo­re and will be hap­py to book an extra night for you at the same time.
