Isarwinkel and Blue Land: Mysterious moors, lakes and mountains

from 1.038,- per person

Turquoise rivers and lakes like in the Caribbean, panoramic mountains and mystical moorlands — you will find all of this in the beautiful south of Bavaria in the Isarwinkel and the so-called Blue Land. Well-known artists such as Franz Marc and Gabriele Münter once lived here and immortalized the picturesque region in their famous paintings. You too can embark on a particularly varied tour that takes you high up to the most beautiful peaks, over wooden moor footbridges and along beautiful lakes. From the famous Herzogstand, you have a breathtaking view over the Bavarian Caribbean, Lake Walchensee and Lake Kochelsee. The moorland around the Staffelsee will amaze you with its special flora and fauna and allow you to relax deeply in the tranquil atmosphere. Finally, you will hike a remnant of the Ice Age, the Osterseen lakes. The area not only has a beautiful name, you will also be amazed by the idyllic natural paradise with its bright turquoise water and small islands. Overnight stays in comfortable accommodation and luggage transfers allow you to escape from everyday life and immerse yourself in active relaxation in one of the most beautiful hiking regions.

Along the rushing Isar to hidden caves and up the Calvary
Distanz: 13 km Höhe (+): 160m Höhe (-): 160m

A short, steep climb takes you up to the Wackersberger Höhe and along the edge of a forest across meadows to Wackersberg. With sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and fields, you finally reach the hidden Dachshöhlen natural monument in a Nagelfluh wall. Now follow the narrow hiking trail through shady forest along an idyllic stream back towards Bad Tölz. Finally, you climb up to Bad Tölz’s most famous sight — the Calvary. The church with its two towers towers majestically over Bad Tölz. The view is just as rewarding.
Three-summit tour via Heiglkopf, Blomberg and Zwiesel
Distanz: 14 km Höhe (+): 650m Höhe (-): 760m
Today our transfer will take you to Wackersberg, the starting point of your hike. Look forward to three of the most beautiful peaks in the Isarwinkel with fantastic views as far as Munich. The tour begins in the shady forest along the Steinbach stream. After a short time, however, you will reach an alpine pasture landscape with grazing donkeys. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a capercaillie. The route continues uphill on a stony path through the forest until you reach the first summit of the Heiglkopf. Enjoy the view before continuing to the Blomberg summit and finally stopping for refreshments at the Blomberghaus. Here you can sunbathe on the spacious terrace or watch daredevils on the neighboring climbing garden. Now you can choose. Either descend to the valley station of the Blombergbahn cable car (if you wish, you can take the summer toboggan run from the middle station) and take the bus to Benediktbeuern, or hike further up the Zwiesel and take the path directly downhill to Benediktbeuern.
Over mysterious moorland paths along the paradisiacal Loisach to Kochel
Distanz: 12 km Höhe (+): 30m Höhe (-): 50m
After yesterday’s energy-sapping mountain tour, today’s route to Kochel am See is flat and relaxed. Start your tour at the famous Benediktbeuern monastery and visit the herb garden and biotopes. Further on, you will reach an exciting moorland adventure trail. Wooden plank paths and a moor raft allow you to immerse yourself in the wonderful world of forest and moorland and enjoy the tranquillity of nature. You then hike along the tranquil Loisach through vast moorland upstream to Kochel. If you still haven’t had enough, let off steam on the fitness trail. In very bad weather or after the hiking tour, a visit to the beautiful Kristall-Therme directly on the lake is always worthwhile. Saunas with lake access and mountain views, as well as a pool with cocktail bar ensure a successful evening.
Panoramic tour to the Herzogstand with ridge crossing
Distanz: 14 km Höhe (+): 1120m Höhe (-): 1120m
Today you can look forward to a breathtakingly beautiful tour. Take the bus to Walchensee and make the sporty ascent to Heimgarten. This is where the absolute highlight of this tour begins — the ridge crossing to the Herzogstand. On a fantastic path, lined with pine trees, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Kochelsee and Walchensee lakes on a relatively breezy ascent to the second panoramic mountain. Descent via an idyllic path. Sure-footedness and a head for heights are required for the ridge crossing. This variant is not recommended if you are afraid of heights. Alternatively, you can hike in serpentines along a beautiful hiking trail directly to the Herzogstand (or take the cable car). Descent via an easy road. Take the bus back to your accommodation.
On wooden paths through the moor to the idyllic Staffelsee
Distanz: 21 km Höhe (+): 140m Höhe (-): 180m
Transfer to Murnau in the morning. From Murnau you hike into the panoramic, wide Murnauer Moos. Partly on wooden plank paths, you walk through unspoiled nature and finally reach the Staffelsee. You walk around about half of the lake and should take the opportunity to take a dip in the pleasantly warm water. You can return to Murnau either by train or boat. Two shortened variants are possible.

Distanz: 10 km Höhe (+): 80m Höhe (-): 80m

A few small islands adorn the impressive water landscape and there are always viewpoints overlooking the moor and lake landscape, inviting you to linger. After the hike, the transfer takes you back to Bad Tölz, where you spend your last night.

Tour character
The hikes are mainly on easy hiking trails. The two mountain tours to the Zwiesel and especially to the Herzogstand are more challenging. Here you also hike on trails. The ridge crossing from Heimgarten to Herzogstand requires a head for heights and surefootedness, but can also be omitted. Otherwise, you should have a good basic level of fitness to be able to enjoy the hikes, which last up to seven hours, in a relaxed manner.
Other notes
To ensure a stress-free start to the trip, we recommend arriving at the starting point by early evening in most cases. Some tours start as early as midday, in which case we recommend arriving the day before and will be happy to book an extra night for you at the same time. The individual return journey takes place on the last day of the tour. The kilometers are approximate and may differ from the actual kilometers covered. This tour is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.
Minimum number of participants
If a minimum number of participants is required for the tour to take place, this is stated under Prices and services. If the minimum number of participants is not reached, we reserve the right to cancel the trip up to four weeks before the date of arrival. We recommend that you do not organize your arrival and departure until after this deadline has passed.

Travel cancellation insurance including travel interruption insurance is recommended in any case. Information can be found at: https://www.feuer-eis-touristik.de/reiseversicherung
