Itinerary / Stages

Individual arrival in Lindau
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Lindau — Oberstaufen
Distanz: 53 km Höhe (+): 660m Höhe (-): 270m
The starting point of your trip is Lindau on Lake Constance. A particular highlight of the town is its historic center, which is located separately on an island. Here, in the middle of the border triangle of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, you start your interesting Lake Constance-Königssee tour. You cycle your first few kilometers along the Leiblach river, which also forms the border with Austria, until you finally reach the picturesque Allgäu region. You will only rarely see small farms as they are barely visible, surrounded by lush forests and pastures. You will only find civilization again in the small villages of Hergenweiler, Maria-Thann, Röthenbach and of course in Oberstaufen, your destination for today.
Oberstaufen — Füssen
Distanz: 80 km Höhe (+): 735m Höhe (-): 750m
From Oberstaufen, of course with good Allgäu cheese in our luggage, we continue today around the Staufner Berg, through the valley of the Konstanzer Ach, which flows into the Großer Alpsee. The Großer Alpsee not only has a lot to offer in terms of scenery, it is also a true Mecca for water sports enthusiasts. Your route continues past the Kleiner Alpsee and over the Iller to tranquil Immenstadt. At the foot of the Grünten massif with the 1730m high Übelhorn, you continue via the municipality of Rettenberg. From here, the tour continues uphill, past the idyllic Rottachsee lake, via Memersch, Oy-Mittelberg and Maria Rain to Nesselwang, at the foot of the Alpspitze. From here you are accompanied by the fantastic panorama of the Allgäu Alps. With a view of the Zugspitze, through green forests and fields, you cycle past small villages such as Schweinegg and Zell until you reach the spa town of Hopfen am See. The adjoining Hopfensee lake of the same name impresses mainly with its breathtaking scenery and the Allgäu Alps in the background.
Füssen — Bad Kohlgrub
Distanz: 71 km Höhe (+): 510m Höhe (-): 630m
From the start in Füssen, you now head to Lake Forggensee, the second largest town in the Ostallgäu. With its historic old town and interesting museums and buildings, Füssen is well worth a visit. Today’s section of the route takes you to Hohenschwangau and thus to the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle. The fairytale castle was built in 1869 under Bavarian King Ludwig II and has been a tourist highlight in Bavaria for many years. The route then leads past Schwangau and Bannwaldsee to Trauchgau. Continuing along country lanes and small side roads, you reach the forests of the sparsely populated Ammergau mountains. Along the old royal road, between Schneidberg and Niederbleich, you reach the Halbammer valley. From there you ride down to Altenau. The route from Altenau via Saulgrub to Bad Kohlgrub impresses with its varied landscape. The route continues past the rustic Altenauer Moor, a nature reserve, along lush green meadows and traditional villages, always with the imposing mountain panorama in the background. From the Bad Kohlgrub moor spa, the route descends to Grafenaschau, at the foot of the Aschau mountains, to another nature reserve, the Murnauer and Eschenloher Moos. From here, the course of the Loissach river leads you to your destination for today’s stage, Eschenlohe.
Bad Kohlgrub — Kochelsee — Bad Tölz
Distanz: 46 km Höhe (+): 275m Höhe (-): 280m
The fourth stage leads from Eschenlohe along the Loisach, with almost no inclines. Along the way, you will pass the Schwaiganger state stud farm, one of the largest horse stud farms in Bavaria. The next stop is Kochelsee, another beautiful, idyllic lake on the Lake Constance-Königsee cycle path. The community of Kochel am See was already inspiring people around 1900. As a result, the famous painter Franz Marc gave up his home in Munich to move to Kochelsee. Kochelsee lies at the foot of the 1731 m high Herzogstand, behind which the crystal-clear Walchensee lies 200 m higher. At the foot of the mountains, through the wet meadows of the Loisach moors, your route continues to Benediktbeuern with a view of the Benediktenwand. The town owes its name to the Benediktbeuern monastery of the same name. The route continues past Bad Heilbrunn, between Blomberg and Stallauer Weiher, to Bad Tölz on the Isar. Here, numerous traditional inns with their Bavarian specialties invite you to stop for a bite to eat.
Bad Tölz — Isar cycle path to Munich
Distanz: 58 km Höhe (+): 209m Höhe (-): 343m
With renewed vigor, today you continue comfortably along the Isar cycle path to the state capital of Munich. You will pass through the towns of Geretsried, Wolfratshausen and Grünwald, among others. Now you are already at the gates of the state capital of Munich. Bavaria Filmstadt, Hellabrunn Zoo and the Deutsches Museum are just a few of the sights that are well worth a visit. The English Garden is also one of the city’s highlights. Here, at the foot of the Chinese Tower, you can treat yourself to a little refreshment in the beer garden and enjoy the end of the day.
