Kochelsee lies at the foot of the 1731 m high Herzogstand. The route now continues from Kochelsee via Ohlstadt to Eschenlohe along the Loisach with virtually no inclines. You cycle back down the Ammergau mountains past the Bannwaldsee lake to Schwangau and the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle. The fairytale castle was built in 1869 under Bavarian King Ludwig II and has been a tourist highlight in Bavaria for many years. Via Füssen am Forggensee, you continue along the cycle path to your destination for today, Hopfen am See. The adjacent Hopfensee lake of the same name impresses mainly with its breathtaking scenery, the Allgäu Alps in the background. If you would like to take a short excursion at the end of your stage, the remains of Hopfen Castle, probably the oldest stone castle in the Allgäu, can be found on a hill above the village.

Oberstaufen — Lindau on Lake Constance
Distanz: 53 km Höhe (+): 182m Höhe (-): 575m
On your way from Oberstaufen to your tour destination Lindau on Lake Constance, you cross a kind of no man’s land. Where you still find some civilization in the small villages of Röthenbach, Maria-Thann and Hergensweiler, the small farms rarely catch your eye as you continue on, as they are barely visible, surrounded by lush forest and pasture landscapes. You cycle your last few kilometers along the Leiblach river, which also marks the border with Austria, until you finally reach the picturesque town of Lindau on Lake Constance. Here, in the middle of the border triangle of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, you end your unforgettable cycle tour. A particular highlight of the town is the historic center, which is located separately on an island and should definitely be visited.
