On sun­ny pan­o­r­amic paths from the Schnal­s­tal Val­ley to the Pfel­der Val­ley. High abo­ve the val­ley, in a pan­o­r­amic loca­ti­on, the Mer­ano High Moun­tain Trail leads you through the South Tyro­lean moun­ta­ins. From the wild Schnal­s­tal Val­ley to the idyl­lic moun­tain vil­la­ge of Pfel­ders, framed by snow-cap­ped 3000-met­re peaks, you are accom­pa­nied by dream views of the Mer­ano basin, the Vinsch­gau Val­ley and the Pas­sei­er­tal Val­ley. You hike through pris­ti­ne high pas­tu­res with cozy huts whe­re you can stop for South Tyro­lean dum­plings, stru­del and cap­puc­ci­no. Spec­ta­cu­lar high­lights such as the thousand-step gor­ge, rope bridges and impres­si­ve vie­w­ing plat­forms make every hiker’s heart beat fas­ter. After an eventful day, enjoy the com­fort of the val­ley befo­re taking the aeri­al cable car back up to the high moun­ta­ins. Itinerary / Stages

Day 1
Indi­vi­du­al arri­val in Naturns
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Use the after­noon for a walk in the Vinsch­gau Val­ley and tas­te South Tyro­lean specialties.
Day 2
Cir­cu­lar hike Schnal­s­tal Valley
Distanz: 13 km Höhe (+): 800m Höhe (-): 800m
Short bus ride to the start of the hike. From the deep­ly incis­ed Schnal­s­tal Val­ley, which is framed by impo­sing three-thousand-met­re peaks, you hike along nar­row paths to Katha­ri­n­a­berg with its striking rock cha­pel. Over alpi­ne mea­dows and through forests, you pass rustic farms until Rein­hold Mess­ner’s Juval Cast­le comes into view. Take the Unter­stell cable car down into the val­ley and take a lei­su­re­ly stroll along the Adi­ge river back to the hotel. 
Day 3
Naturns/surroundings — Parcines
Distanz: 10 km Höhe (+): 550m Höhe (-): 750m
Take the gon­do­la lift back to the high trail and enjoy the breath­ta­king view of the Ven­os­ta Val­ley from the vie­w­ing plat­form. Via nar­row forest paths, you reach steep moun­tain farms befo­re the des­cent into the thousand-step gor­ge beg­ins. A path secu­red with chains leads deep into the gor­ge and back up again via bridges, foot­brid­ges, step­ped paths and rocky trails. From Alpen­gast­hof Gig­gel­berg, take the cable car to Par­ci­nes at the foot of the Texel Group. 
Day 4
Par­ci­nes — Dorf Tirol
Distanz: 14 km Höhe (+): 700m Höhe (-): 800m
Ascent to the Gig­gel­berg, from whe­re the spec­ta­cu­lar high-alti­tu­de trail con­ti­nues to the Nase­reit hut. The trail leads across pan­o­r­amic moun­tain pas­tu­res and the Hoch­gang­haus to the rope bridge and on to the Lei­ter­alm. The rocky path opens up magni­fi­cent views of the Mer­ano basin. Crown the day with a final stop at the Hoch­muth befo­re the gon­do­la takes you to your desti­na­ti­on for today’s stage, Dorf Tirol. 
Day 5
Dorf Tirol — Passeiertal
Distanz: 17 km Höhe (+): 600m Höhe (-): 800m
From the High Cross, you fol­low shady forest paths downhill, pass the Longfall hut and reach the pan­o­r­amic high trail. Along green moun­tain mea­dows and past typi­cal South Tyro­lean cha­pels, you reach the lowest point of the Mer­ano High Moun­tain Trail. You then ascend again through fields befo­re the Feu­er­stein­weg trail des­cends to San Mar­ti­no. Choo­se bet­ween a short bus ride or a lei­su­re­ly val­ley hike to San Leonardo/St. Leonhard. 
Day 6
Pas­sei­er Val­ley — Pfelders
Distanz: 17 km Höhe (+): 1200m Höhe (-): 200m
In the mor­ning, the Norg­gen­steig trail takes you through den­se moun­tain forest up to the pan­o­r­amic trail abo­ve Sankt Leon­hard. The gent­le ups and downs alter­na­te bet­ween forest, mea­dows and quiet moun­tain vil­la­ges. Later, you cross the rus­hing stream and fol­low the last sec­tion of the trail direct­ly along the bank to the quaint vil­la­ge of Pfel­ders, whe­re you have almost rea­ched the end of the world. 
Day 7
Cir­cu­lar hike in the Ötz­tal high mountains
Distanz: 10 km Höhe (+): 500m Höhe (-): 500m
From Pfel­ders, the trail leads past the rustic Lazins­er Hüt­te hut deep into the head of the val­ley, whe­re snow-cover­ed three-thousand-met­re peaks of the Ötz­tal Alps loom and cow bells ring over the alpi­ne pas­tu­res. On the pan­o­r­amic trail you hike through wide alpi­ne pas­tu­res to a cozy hut stop befo­re retur­ning to the val­ley eit­her on foot or by cable car. Distance10 km

Tour cha­rac­ter
You hike on good hiking trails and in sec­tions on paths high abo­ve the lake. Often also on paved pro­me­na­de paths along the shore. You should have a good basic level of fit­ness and sure­foo­ted­ness for the wal­king times of bet­ween 5 and 6 hours, as well as for some lon­ger clim­bs. The more chal­len­ging, rocky sec­tions can be avo­ided by taking an alter­na­ti­ve rou­te or a bus ride. 
Arri­val and departure
Arri­val by train via Merano/Meran and onwards with the Ven­os­ta Val­ley Rail­way to Naturno/Naturns Air­port Vero­na or Bolzano/Bozen Par­king: limi­t­ed num­ber of free hotel par­king spaces Depar­tu­re by bus and train from Pfel­ders to Naturno/Naturns, dura­ti­on approx. 2 hours. 1x chan­ge in Merano
