Day 2
Munich — Ammersee/Herrsching
Distanz: 53 km Höhe (+): 339m Höhe (-): 196m
Your first stage starts right in the heart of Munich and runs southwest of the state capital. From here, the Ammersee cycle path first takes you via Germering and Gilching to Weßling until you finally reach Inning am Ammersee, the third largest lake in Bavaria. The municipality of Inning is a popular vacation resort in the Starnberger Fünf-Seen-Land region and therefore ideal for a short stopover. The route continues along the picturesque eastern shore of the lake via Buch and Breitbrunn to your destination for today, Herrsching. Not far from your accommodation today, on the Holy Mountain, lies the oldest place of pilgrimage in Bavaria, Andechs Monastery.
Day 3
Ammersee/Herrsching — Lake Starnberg — Staffelsee — Murnau
Distanz: 60 km Höhe (+): 640m Höhe (-): 490m
From Herrsching, the route continues to the magnificent Lake Starnberg. The first port of call is Tutzing, on the western shore of Lake Starnberg. A special highlight here is the Tutzing museum ship, which houses a cabaret stage and a bistro. Further south, along the lakeshore, lies the romantic village of Seeshaupt, the birthplace and home of several well-known artists. The following section of the route stretches along the idyllic Osterseen lakes, past the Riegsee lake and finally past Murnau am Staffelsee. The Staffelsee is a relatively small lake with a lot of Bavarian romance.
Day 4
Murnau- Bad Tölz
Distanz: 48 km Höhe (+): 290m Höhe (-): 320m
From Murnau, the cycle path leads to the picturesque Kochelsee and the Loissach. Today the route leads along the beautiful scenery of the Alpine chain to Bad Tölz. Use the remaining time here to visit the interesting old town of Tölz with its historic market street. Traditional inns also tempt you with Bavarian specialties.
Day 5
Bad Tölz — Sylvensteinspeicher — Achenpass — Tegernsee
Distanz: 65 km Höhe (+): 630m Höhe (-): 550m
From Bad Tölz, the route follows the Isar via Lenggries to the Sylvenstein reservoir. The azure blue reservoir, surrounded by mountains and forests, comes pretty close to the wild beauty of Canada without exaggerating. A short breather here is therefore highly recommended. Strengthened, you continue towards the Achenpass. Once there, you follow the route downhill to Kreuth and reach Lake Tegernsee, another gem of Upper Bavaria.
Day 6
Tegernsee — Schliersee — Rosenheim region
Distanz: 64 km Höhe (+): 580m Höhe (-): 860m
Today’s section of the route runs from Gmund am Tegernsee through the small villages of Gasse and Ostin to Hausham. You now follow the Bodensee-Königssee cycle path along the course of the small, romantic Schlierach river to Schliersee. Schliersee is a beautiful lake framed by mountains, whose surrounding villages have lost none of their authentic Bavarian flair over the years. Following the shore, you reach Neuhaus, from where you continue into the hinterland to Fischbachau via Hundham to Sonnenreuth. The next larger village at the foot of the Wendelstein is Bad Feilnbach, from where you then head towards Rosenheim.
Day 7
Rosenheim — Chiemsee — Waging am See region
Distanz: 67 km Höhe (+): 550m Höhe (-): 530m
Start in Rosenheim and cycle through the picturesque villages of Frasdorf and Aschau to Bernau am Chiemsee, the Bavarian Sea. Here you switch to the idyllic Chiemsee lakeside cycle path and enjoy the gentle views of the waves as you cycle along the lake towards Traunstein. The stage ends at Waginger See, a hidden gem among the Upper Bavarian lakes. Unwind, breathe in the fresh air and feel the peace and quiet that only a cycle tour through this dreamlike landscape can offer.
Day 8
Waging am See — Wasserburg
Distanz: 70 km Höhe (+): 610m Höhe (-): 630m
From idyllic Waginger See, the route leads through the gently undulating landscape of Chiemgau to the glistening northern shore of Lake Chiemsee. Along quiet paths, small villages and cafés invite you to linger. The route continues via the Klostersee lake near Seeon, where the former Benedictine monastery is a cultural highlight. Through meadows and forests, you reach the tranquil Obinger See and the unspoiled Ameranger See — perfect places for a short break or a refreshing swim. Finally, you roll along idyllic side roads to Wasserburg am Inn, whose historic old town, picturesquely situated on a peninsula in the Inn, is an atmospheric end to this varied stage.
Day 9
Wasserburg — Munich
Distanz: 67 km Höhe (+): 420m Höhe (-): 320m
From the historic old town of Wasserburg, picturesquely situated on a bend in the Inn, the route leads westwards through gently rolling hills. You cycle along quiet paths through typical Upper Bavarian villages and wide fields to Grafing, where you can stop off at a traditional beer garden. The route continues through the green foothills of the Alps to Ebersberg, where the extensive forest with its shady paths and magnificent views is a delight. On the last few kilometers, you can already feel the proximity to the Bavarian capital: you finally reach Munich via well-maintained cycle paths, where cosy street cafés and the lively atmosphere of the Isar metropolis form the final point of your tour.
