Munich Lakes Tour — Lake magic on the western edge of the Alps without luggage transfer

from 708,- per person

The Alpine foothills have 1000 different facets and the best way to discover them in the shortest possible time is to explore the area by bike. South of Munich, between the Alps and the Bavarian capital, you will find the most beautiful lakes, the most breathtaking landscapes and pure Bavarian tradition. Everything is easily accessible thanks to a perfect network of cycle paths.

Itinerary / Stages

Journey to Munich
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Individual arrival in Munich. Enjoy your first few hours in the Bavarian capital.
Munich — Ammersee/Herrsching
Distanz: 58 km Höhe (+): 339m Höhe (-): 196m
Your first stage starts right in the heart of Munich and runs southwest of the state capital. From here, the route takes you past Weßlinger See and Wörthsee until you finally reach Ammersee, the third largest lake in Bavaria. You continue along the picturesque eastern shore of the lake via Breitbrunn to your destination for today, Herrsching. Not far from your accommodation today, on the Holy Mountain, lies the oldest place of pilgrimage in Bavaria, the famous Andechs Monastery.
Herrsching — Lake Starnberg — Staffelsee — Murnau
Distanz: 70 km Höhe (+): 332m Höhe (-): 327m
From Herrsching, the route continues to the magnificent Lake Starnberg. The first port of call is Tutzing, on the western shore of Lake Starnberg. A special highlight here is the Tutzing museum ship, which houses a cabaret stage and a bistro. Further south, along the lakeshore, lies the romantic village of Seeshaupt, the birthplace and home of several well-known artists. The following section of the route stretches along the idyllic Osterseen lakes, past the Riegsee lake until you finally reach Murnau am Staffelsee. The Staffelsee is a relatively small lake with a lot of Bavarian romance. Murnau is also a true artists’ town with plenty to discover. The route then takes you to the beautiful Kochelsee lake in the village of Kochel.
Murnau — Bad Tölz
Distanz: 30 km Höhe (+): 232m Höhe (-): 286m
From the picturesque Kochelsee and the Loissach, today you cycle along the beautiful scenery of the Alpine chain to Bad Tölz. Use the remaining time here to visit the interesting old town of Tölz with its historic market street. Traditional inns also tempt you with Bavarian specialties.
Bad Tölz — Sylvensteinstausee — Achenpass — Tegernsee
Distanz: 65 km Höhe (+): 456m Höhe (-): 365m
From Bad Tölz, the route follows the Isar via Lenggries to the Sylvenstein reservoir. The azure blue reservoir, surrounded by mountains and forests, comes pretty close to the wild beauty of Canada without exaggerating. A short breather here is therefore highly recommended. Strengthened, you continue towards the Achenpass. Once there, you follow the route downhill to Kreuth and reach Lake Tegernsee, another gem of Upper Bavaria.
Tegernsee — Munich
Distanz: 60 km Höhe (+): 179m Höhe (-): 387m
Today you cycle from Tegernsee via Gmund on a section of the Via Bavarica Tyrolensis long-distance cycle path to Munich. If you prefer something a little more sporty, you also have the option of taking the more challenging variant via the Taubenberg and then the Munich Waterway back to the state capital.
Individual departure
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Extend your stay in Munich for further sightseeing or an individual journey home.
