On cycle paths, cycle rou­tes or small side roads, acti­ve lei­su­re cyclists expe­ri­ence three count­ries with their tou­rist regi­ons and many out­stan­ding natu­ral and cul­tu­ral beau­ties. Munich-Venice leads from the metro­po­lis on the Isar, the Bava­ri­an lakes and rivers via the Tyro­lean Inn Val­ley, along old rail­road lines through the UNESCO World Heri­ta­ge Site of the Dolo­mi­tes and Tre­vi­so to the Doge’s Palaces and canals of the lagoon city of Venice.

Indi­vi­du­al arri­val at the start­ing hotel in Munich. If you arri­ve ear­ly, use the time to explo­re the capi­tal of the Free Sta­te of Bava­ria. If you arri­ve during the Okto­ber­fest 20.09–05.10.2025 you will stay over­night in Bad Tölz
Day 2
Munich — Bad Tölz
Distanz: 59 km Höhe (+): 440m Höhe (-): 320m
You lea­ve Munich along the Isar. The rou­te takes you past monas­te­ries, through Bava­ri­an vil­la­ges and through the Isar flood­plains to the raf­ting town of Bad Tölz with its beau­tiful old town. 
Day 3
Bad Tölz — Jenbach/Schwaz
Distanz: 68 km Höhe (+): 720m Höhe (-): 830m
From Bad Tölz, con­ti­nue along the Isar to Syl­ven­stein­see. You cross the Ger­man-Aus­tri­an bor­der through the Kar­wen­del Natu­re Park and reach the Achen­see vaca­ti­on regi­on and the moun­tain lake of the same name. If you wish, you can take a boat trip on the Achen­see. Over­night stay depen­ding on avai­la­bi­li­ty in Maurach/Jenbach/Schwaz

Jenbach/Schwaz — Innsbruck
Distanz: 50 km Höhe (+): 90m Höhe (-): 40m
You start from Jen­bach or Schwaz and cycle along the well-deve­lo­ped cycle path along the River Inn to Inns­bruck, the capi­tal of Tyrol. Stroll through the his­to­ric old town, visit the famous Gol­den Roof or take a trip to the Berg­isel with its ski jump or the Berg-Isel Muse­um, which com­me­mo­ra­tes the batt­les on the Berg­isel under the supre­me com­mand of free­dom figh­ter Andre­as Hofer. 
Day 5
Inns­bruck — Mühlbach
Distanz: 56 km Höhe (+): 270m Höhe (-): 900m
Today’s rou­te beg­ins with a trip by train or bus to the Bren­ner Pass, the bor­der bet­ween Aus­tria and Ita­ly and at the same time the waters­hed and cul­tu­ral axis. Only a few buil­dings remain as remin­ders of the for­mer bor­der. From the Bren­ner Pass, you cycle along the old rail­road line to the Fug­ger town of Ster­zing and on to Fran­zens­fes­te. From here, the cycle path leads east­wards to Mühl­bach at the ent­rance to the South Tyro­lean Pus­ter Valley. 
Day 6
Rio di Pus­te­ria — Vil­la­bassa / Dobbiaco
Distanz: 55 km Höhe (+): 720m Höhe (-): 310m
Today you fol­low the cycle path along the Rienz river through the Mühl­ba­cher Klau­se and fur­ther along the lower Pus­ter­tal val­ley to Bru­neck. If the­re is still time in the mor­ning, we recom­mend a visit to the Folk­lo­re Muse­um in Die­ten­heim, which docu­ments rural life, cul­tu­re and cus­toms in South Tyrol. From Bru­neck you cycle along the cycle path along the River Rienz to Tob­lach, your desti­na­ti­on for today. 
Day 7
Vil­la­bassa / Dob­bia­co — Cortina
Distanz: 35 km Höhe (+): 440m Höhe (-): 430m
Today, you’ll fol­low the bike path along the for­mer Dolo­mi­ten­bahn rail­way line through the Höh­len­stein­tal val­ley, past Lake Tob­lach and the war ceme­tery com­me­mo­ra­ting World War I. Short­ly after­ward, a uni­que pan­o­r­amic view of the Drei Zin­nen rock for­ma­ti­on opens up befo­re you reach Lake Dür­ren­see. The bike path clim­bs gent­ly to the bor­der bet­ween the pro­vin­ces of Bol­za­no and Bel­lu­no. Now you’ll ride com­for­ta­b­ly downhill along the for­mer rail­road right-of-way and reach the Dolo­mi­te town of Cor­ti­na d’Ampezzo with its stun­ning moun­tain back­drop. This for­mer moun­tain vil­la­ge is also known as the “Queen of the Dolo­mi­tes,” as it offers breath­ta­king views of the sur­roun­ding moun­ta­ins. It’s no won­der, then, that this small town deve­lo­ped into a fashionable vaca­ti­on desti­na­ti­on as ear­ly as the 19th century. 
Day 8
Cor­ti­na — Longarone
Distanz: 55 km Höhe (+): 370m Höhe (-): 1100m
The old rail­road line has been con­ver­ted into a cycle path. You fol­low the rou­te com­for­ta­b­ly through the Boi­te val­ley to Pie­ve di Cado­re. In the his­to­ric town, you meet the Pia­ve river, which you fol­low fur­ther south. Magni­fi­cent views will take you all the way to Lon­ga­ro­ne, the youn­gest town on your jour­ney. Only 50 years ago, a rock­s­li­de into the reser­voir cau­sed a flood wave to hit the vil­la­ge and des­troy it. Recon­s­truc­tion began in the late 1960s and today only a muse­um reminds us of the disaster. 
Day 9
Lon­ga­ro­ne — Conegliano
Distanz: 55 km Höhe (+): 450m Höhe (-): 870m
Con­ti­nue along the Pia­ve river until short­ly befo­re Bel­lu­no (an excur­si­on to the ‑litt­le Venice in the moun­ta­ins- is pos­si­ble), here you lea­ve your com­pa­n­ion and cycle along the Lago di San­ta Cro­ce, the second lar­gest lake in Vene­to after Lake Gar­da and a popu­lar excur­si­on desti­na­ti­on due to its tur­quoi­se blue water and san­dy beach. Howe­ver, you can con­ti­nue through the his­to­ric Vitto­rio Vene­to to the medieval town of Cone­glia­no. Magni­fi­cent vil­las and palaz­zi still cha­rac­te­ri­ze the town today. 
Day 10
Cone­glia­no — Treviso
Distanz: 45 km Höhe (+): 50m Höhe (-): 100m
Now you lea­ve the Alps behind you for good and cycle through the fer­ti­le plain. Ever­y­thing that tas­tes good is grown here, but spe­cial atten­ti­on is paid to the famous radic­chio, the famous red salad from Tre­vi­so. The town is also known as ‑cit­tà del­le aque- becau­se of its bran­ching canals in the cen­ter. Take a stroll along the­se water­ways and dis­co­ver many a cozy spot. 
Day 11
Tre­vi­so — Venice/Mestre
Distanz: 45 km Höhe (+): 50m Höhe (-): 30m
First, the beau­tiful­ly laid out cycle path leads along the River Sile. Only 95 kilo­me­ters long, but a famous river, as men­tio­ned by Dan­te Ali­ghie­ri in the Divi­ne Come­dy. Now the desti­na­ti­on of your jour­ney draws ever clo­ser. Quiet side roads lead you to your accom­mo­da­ti­on on the main­land off Venice with excel­lent bus con­nec­tions to the lagoon city. Now it’s time to toast the jour­ney with a glass of wine — pre­fer­a­b­ly right on St. Mar­k’s Square!

Additional information

Natu­re of the Tour
The cycle tour from Munich to Venice com­bi­nes the charm of the lakes with the cha­rac­ter of the moun­ta­ins and is a very varied tour. The most dif­fi­cult parts of the Alpi­ne crossing (Inns­bruck — Bren­ne­ro) can be shor­ten­ed by train or easi­ly cycled on the old rail­road line (Dob­bia­co — Cor­ti­na). The last two days are downhill and flat towards the sea.

By train: Rail jour­ney to Munich main sta­ti­on and by sub­way to the hotel By pla­ne: Low-cost flights to Munich, Tre­vi­so or Venice Mar­co Polo air­port. On request, we can orga­ni­ze trans­fers from the air­port to the start­ing point of the tour.

Why is a train ride plan­ned bet­ween Inns­bruck and the Bren­ner Pass? this sec­tion is not only deman­ding, but you would also have to tack­le it on a busy sta­te road Whe­re are you accom­mo­da­ted in Venice? in Venice you are accom­mo­da­ted on the main­land in Mest­re How do you get to Venice (island)? the­re are seve­ral ways to get from the main­land to the island of Venice: the qui­ckest way is by cab, the jour­ney takes about 9 minu­tes. The­re is also a direct bus from the “cor­so del Popo­lo Mestri­na”. On the island of Venice its­elf, howe­ver, the­re are only two means of trans­por­ta­ti­on: on foot or by boat; the use of bicy­cles is not permitted

If you arri­ve during the Okto­ber­fest 21.09 ‑06.10.2024, you will stay over­night in Bad Tölz ins­tead of Munich. You will recei­ve a train ticket Bad Tölz — Munich with your tra­vel documents.

Rating cycle tour Munich — Venice ‑com­for­ta­ble-
Dear Feu­er & Eis team, all in all, this tour was well orga­ni­zed in terms of the orga­niza­ti­on, lug­ga­ge trans­port, rou­te plan­ning and accom­mo­da­ti­on, but we do have to cri­ti­ci­ze some of the hotels: start­ing with the start­ing hotel Bau­er in Munich, an out­da­ted hotel that makes you won­der what the 3 stars were award­ed for. The room fur­nis­hings in the worn style of the 60s, a show­er that could not be used due to the instal­la­ti­on in the bath­tub, a yel­lo­wed toi­let seat and a very poor break­fast (1 type of tas­te­l­ess cheese, the only sau­sa­ge was simp­le boi­led ham). Not a good start to a cycling trip. Munich cer­tain­ly offers much bet­ter hotels for the same pri­ce, and Hotel Vil­la Neve in Cor­ti­na dAm­pez­zo, a hotel that appears to be in liqui­da­ti­on, also fails to meet the 3‑star stan­dard. Hotel Dan­te, a long-distance dri­ver­’s accom­mo­da­ti­on, also pro­ved to be an impo­si­ti­on. On the edge of an indus­tri­al area, noi­sy, poor cui­sine, extre­me­ly poor break­fast.… what was the orga­ni­zer thin­king with this sel­ec­tion? To make mat­ters worse, the­re were no alter­na­ti­ves for din­ner on site. Inci­den­tal­ly, the stage length lis­ted in the over­view was not cor­rect, ins­tead of 55 km (to Lon­ga­ro­ne) we had to cycle a fur­ther 17 km. This is not real­ly a pro­blem, but it is con­fu­sing when Lon­ga­ro­ne is lis­ted as the desti­na­ti­on, and it would be nice if you could real­ly rely on the 3 and 4‑star hotel sel­ec­tion. The three hotels cri­ti­ci­zed abo­ve do not match the total pri­ce. best regards from the nor­t­hU­do Harzig-Milinski
