Munich — Venice: sporty

from 1.428,- per person

The Munich-Venice long-distance cycle route combines cycling enjoyment and a crossing of the Alps to the Adriatic Sea, allowing active leisure cyclists to experience three countries with their tourist regions and many outstanding natural and cultural beauties on cycle paths, cycle routes or small side roads. Munich-Venice leads from the metropolis on the Isar, the Bavarian lakes and rivers via the Tyrolean Inn Valley, along old railroad lines through the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomites and Treviso to the Doge’s Palaces and canals of the lagoon city of Venice.

Itinerary / Stages

Day 1

Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Individual arrival at the starting hotel in Munich. If you arrive early, use the time to explore the capital of the Free State of Bavaria. If you arrive during the Oktoberfest 20.09–05.10.2025 you will stay overnight in Bad Tölz
Day 2

Distanz: 58 km Höhe (+): 440m Höhe (-): 320m
You leave Munich along the Isar. The route takes you past monasteries, through Bavarian villages and through the Isar floodplains to the rafting town of Bad Tölz with its beautiful old town.
Day 3
Bad Tölz — Schwaz
Distanz: 77 km Höhe (+): 720m Höhe (-): 830m
From Bad Tölz continue along the Isar to Sylvensteinsee. You cross the German-Austrian border through the Karwendel Nature Park and reach the Achensee vacation region and the mountain lake of the same name. Those who wish can take a boat trip on the Achensee. Overnight stay depending on availability in Jenbach/Schwaz.
Day 4
Schwaz — Mühlbach
Distanz: 85 km Höhe (+): 360m Höhe (-): 940m
From Jenbach or Schwaz, cycle along the well-maintained cycle path along the River Inn to Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol. Stroll through the historic old town, visit the famous Golden Roof or take a trip to the Bergisel with its ski jump or the Bergisel Museum, which commemorates the battles on the Bergisel under the supreme command of freedom fighter Andreas Hofer. The first challenging section of today’s route from Innsbruck to the Brenner Pass, the border between Austria and Italy and at the same time the watershed and cultural axis, is covered by train transfer (cycling on the main road is not recommended due to the constantly increasing volume of traffic). Only a few buildings remain as reminders of the former border. From Brenner you cycle along the old railroad line to the Fugger town of Sterzing and on to Franzensfeste and Mühlbach.
Day 5
Rio di Pusteria — Villabassa / Dobbiaco
Distanz: 50 km Höhe (+): 720m Höhe (-): 310m
A well-maintained cycle path leads from Mühlbach through the Pustertal valley, past the Mühlbacher Klause, a former border post. This once formed an ancient gateway between the provinces of Raetia and Noricum. Along the River Rienz you reach Bruneck. We recommend a visit to the Folklore Museum in Dietenheim, which documents rural life, culture and customs in South Tyrol. From Bruneck you cycle along the cycle path along the River Rienz to Toblach, your destination for today. After you have already spent a few kilometers on the saddle, we offer you a bike pit stop in Dobbiaco to check your bike.
Day 6
Villabassa / Dobbiaco — Pieve di Cadore / Calalzo di Cadore
Distanz: 65 km Höhe (+): 967m Höhe (-): 943m
Today you follow the cycle path on the former Dolomite Railway through the Höhlenstein Valley past Lake Toblach and the war cemetery, which commemorates the First World War. Shortly afterwards, a unique panoramic view of the Three Peaks rock formation opens up before you reach Lake Dürrensee. The cycle path climbs slightly to the border between the two provinces of Bolzano and Belluno. Now you roll comfortably downhill on the former railroad line and reach the Dolomite town of Cortina dAmpezzo with its fantastic mountain scenery. Continuously and gently downhill — for the most part still on the former railroad line — the view to the left is of the Sorapis mountain range and to the right of the rock formation of the Five Towers (Cinque Torri). Cycle south through the Boite Valley to the Pieve / Calalzo di Cadore junction.
Day 7
Pieve di Cadore / Calalzo di Cadore — Conegliano
Distanz: 81 km Höhe (+): 730m Höhe (-): 1500m
The newly developed cycle path takes you to Longarone. This town was rebuilt in a very short space of time after it was flooded by a tidal wave in 1963 following a rockslide into the reservoir. The route continues to Conegliano.
Day 8
Conegliano — Venice mainland / Mestre
Distanz: 94 km Höhe (+): 190m Höhe (-): 260m
You leave the Alps behind you and cycle through the plain to Treviso. Along the way you can admire the villas of the Italian architect Palladio, who completed his magnificent buildings mainly here, in the immediate sphere of influence of the naval power of Venice. On the home stretch towards the Adriatic, the river Sile will be your companion to the mainland of Venice, from where you can set off on an extensive exploration tour of the Serenissima with all its magnificent buildings.
Day 9
