Feuer und Eis partner tour

On the pulse of the Alps 2 — From Kitzbühel to the Three Peaks with CHARME

from 1.645,- per person

The starting point for this Alpine crossing is the chamois town of Kitzbühel. The hike leads across the Kitzbühel Alps into the Hohe Tauern National Park with its glacial valleys and extraordinary variety of flowers. The area becomes increasingly rugged, the rock faces steeper and the ice-covered peaks of the three-thousand-metre peaks shine in the distance. The peaks of the Dolomites draw ever closer. Over the Gsieser Törl you finally cross from Austria into Italy. Past lush alpine meadows and huts that have been managed for centuries, you descend into the Gsiesertal valley. The stage finish is not far away and another highlight awaits at the end of the tour: the Three Peaks, located in the middle of the Unesco World Heritage Site.

Itinerary / Stages

Individual arrival in Kitzbühel
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m

Kitzbühel Aurach Jochberg
Distanz: 14 km Höhe (+): 540m Höhe (-): 380m
Starting from Kitzbühel, you hike leisurely below the Kitzbühel South Mountains. You pass small villages and quaint farmsteads with wonderful floral decorations. The village-like character of Aurach in Tirol, the various hamlets and settlements and the wonderful location at the foot of the Kitzbühel South Mountains make Aurach something special. It is not for nothing that the great Kitzbühel artist and painter Alfons Walde repeatedly chose the church and the small Aurach village square as his motif, making them famous the world over. Overnight stay in Jochberg.
Jochberg Gauxjoch Hartkaserhöhe Mittersill
Distanz: 16 km Höhe (+): 820m Höhe (-): 800m
A shuttle takes you to the starting point of the tour. Crossing lush alpine pastures below the valley heights, you hike further and further up into the beautiful mountain world. Enjoy the peace and quiet and the flora and fauna. Via the Gauxjoch you reach the Trattenbachalm and the Hartkaserhöhe. The border between the two federal states of Tyrol and Salzburg runs along the mountain top. If you want to avoid the descent from the Resterhöhe, you can take the Panoramabahn Kitzbühler Alpen II to shorten the ascent by a few meters (not included in the price). A bus will take you to Mittersill.
Mittersill Tauernhaus Venedigerblick Matrei/Matreier Tauernhaus
Distanz: 12 km Höhe (+): 650m Höhe (-): 650m
In the morning there is a transfer from Mittersill to the Matreier Tauernhaus. If you wish, you can also make the crossing from Hintersee to St. Pöltener Hütte and Matreier Tauernhaus. At first, the trail leads steadily uphill through meadows and larch forests to the Venedigerblick. Once you reach the highest point, you have a wonderful view of the glacier world of the Großvenediger. Along a well-signposted hiking trail, with the Großvenediger and the surrounding mountains always in view, you hike towards Innergschlöss and back to the Matreier Tauernhaus via the beautiful alpine pastures. From there you can reach Matrei by public transport.
Matrei Mariahilf Gsieser Törl Gsiesertal
Distanz: 11 km Höhe (+): 780m Höhe (-): 740m
Take the bus to Mariahilf to start today’s hiking day. The shady forest paths take you higher and higher up to the first mountain pastures and the Gsieser Törl, which is the subject of many old smuggling stories. The view sweeps across the valley to the Braies Dolomites. On your way into the tranquil Gsiesertal valley, the Oberbergalm, Kradorferalm, Messnerhütte and many more invite you to enjoy traditional delicacies.
Casies Valley — Frondeign — Wahlen — Dobbiaco
Distanz: 15 km Höhe (+): 470m Höhe (-): 440m
The tour leads further and further south and the Dolomites are just a stone’s throw away. From Valle di Casies/Gsiesertal, the route climbs steadily uphill to the Frondeign pass. Most of the hike is through shady woodland. If you prefer, you can choose the slightly more athletic option towards the Schuieralm. The path winds its way down to Wahlen. The valley widens and offers views of the Neunerkofel, Haunold, Dürrenstein and the Höhlenstein valley.
Dobbiaco — Three Peaks — Val Fiscalina
Distanz: 15 km Höhe (+): 950m Höhe (-): 960m
In the morning, take the public bus to the Dreizinnenblick. From the Dreizinnenblick you hike over the Rienzböden and through the Rienz Valley up to the Three Peaks, the landmark of the Dolomites. The Three Peaks are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You continue to the famous Dreizinnenhütte hut. From there, the route takes you below the Paternkofel, which was fought over during the First World War (the legendary mountain guide Sepp Innerkofler lost his life here), into the Fischleintal valley. From Val Fiscalina you take the bus to Dobbiaco. As an alternative, you can hike from the Dreizinnenblick up to the Three Peaks and the Rifugio Auronzo and from there take the bus to Dobbiaco (ticket for the Dreizinnen shuttle not included).
