Are you plan­ning your first Alpi­ne crossing or moun­tain tour and want to prepa­re yours­elf? Then this pre­pa­ra­ti­on cour­se is just right for you. Over three days, you will learn important and abo­ve all prac­ti­cal tech­ni­ques for hiking safe­ly in alpi­ne ter­rain. In addi­ti­on, we will ans­wer ques­ti­ons about wea­ther con­di­ti­ons in the Alps, equip­ment and basic know­ledge about hiking in the Alps. The cour­se takes place in North Rhi­ne-West­pha­lia, in the Sau­er­land to be pre­cise. Becau­se even in the low moun­tain ran­ge the­re are alpi­ne paths on which you can train for hiking in the Alps. The big advan­ta­ge: you don’t have to tra­vel to the Alps to prepa­re for your first moun­tain adventure. 

Itinerary / Stages

Day 1
Arri­val and introduction
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Mee­ting point at 1 p.m. at the hotel recep­ti­on. We start in a rela­xed man­ner with an intro­duc­tion to the cour­se con­tent for the next few days. We then set off on a short intro­duc­to­ry hike during which we also coll­ect indi­vi­du­al ques­ti­ons. This is fol­lo­wed by the first theo­ry ses­si­on on crossing the Alps. In the evening the­re will be time to chat over din­ner together. 
Day 2
Theo­ry and practice
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
After break­fast, we start with a short theo­ry ses­si­on on crossing the Alps. We then hike tog­e­ther with exer­ci­s­es in the ter­rain on the topics of sure­foo­ted­ness, wal­king downhill cor­rect­ly, hiking with poles, etc. In the after­noon we meet for a theo­ry ses­si­on on the sub­ject of equip­ment. What is real­ly nee­ded, which hiking boots are sui­ta­ble, etc. In the evening we have din­ner tog­e­ther and exch­an­ge ideas. 
Day 3
Prac­ti­cing what you have lear­ned on a half-day hike
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
After break­fast, we sum­ma­ri­ze the cour­se con­tent again on a half-day hike and prac­ti­ce what we have lear­ned. Fare­well and indi­vi­du­al depar­tu­re around 2 pm.

By car: Address for the navi­ga­ti­on sys­tem: Wald­ho­tel Schin­ken­wirt, Eisen­berg 2, 59939 Ols­berg. Exit A46 Best­wig, con­ti­nue in the direc­tion of Ols­berg, then fol­low the signs to Schin­ken­wirt / Wald­ho­tel. RAIL: Desti­na­ti­on sta­ti­on Ols­berg (Hagen Kas­sel line). From the sta­ti­on approx. 3 km to the hotel (cab approx. 710 minu­tes, approx. 10). If neces­sa­ry, our gui­de can also take a few more peo­p­le from the sta­ti­on to the hotel. Plea­se cont­act us if required.

Free par­king at the Wald­ho­tel Schinkenwirt.

No mat­ter how well plan­ned a trip is, in rare cases unex­pec­ted things hap­pen. At such times, it’s nice to have someone you can rely on on site. For this reason, you will have a local cont­act per­son on our indi­vi­du­al acti­vi­ty tours who will be hap­py to pro­vi­de you with infor­ma­ti­on and, as sta­ted in the tra­vel docu­ments, can be cont­ac­ted in an emergency.
Insu­ran­ces

Mini­mum num­ber of participants
If a mini­mum num­ber of par­ti­ci­pan­ts is requi­red for the tour to take place, this is sta­ted under Pri­ces and ser­vices. If the mini­mum num­ber of par­ti­ci­pan­ts is not rea­ched, we reser­ve the right to can­cel the trip up to four weeks befo­re the date of arri­val. We recom­mend that you do not orga­ni­ze your arri­val and depar­tu­re until after this dead­line has passed.
Other notes
To ensu­re a stress-free start to the trip, we recom­mend arri­ving at the start­ing point by ear­ly evening in most cases. Some tours start as ear­ly as mid­day, in which case we recom­mend arri­ving the day befo­re and will be hap­py to book an extra night for you at the same time. The indi­vi­du­al return jour­ney takes place on the last day of the tour. The kilo­me­ters are appro­xi­ma­te and may dif­fer from the actu­al kilo­me­ters cover­ed. This tour is not sui­ta­ble for peo­p­le with redu­ced mobility.
