Summit enjoyment in the eastern Karwendel

from 995,- per person

Welcome to the eastern Karwendel, where the Alps have retained their wild originality and invite you to hike to alpine perfection. This journey takes you to the vastness of Canada and presents the turquoise waters of the Caribbean in a unique alpine version. The Karwendel mountains, known for their majestic rock formations, form the impressive backdrop for this eventful round trip. Start your hiking experience at Tyrol’s largest lake, the picturesque Achensee, nestled in the imposing mountain world of the Karwendel and Rofan mountains. A panoramic mountain tour takes you to another highlight, Lake Sylvenstein. The Bavarian fjord blends harmoniously into the landscape at the foot of the Karwendel and the famous Sylvenstein Bridge can be seen at close range. Now you hike deeper into the Karwendel mountains and spend the night in a modern mountain hut at the foot of the Schafreuter. Via picturesque paths with fantastic views in all directions, you finally reach the heart of the eastern Karwendel to the so-called Ahornboden, the Canada of Tyrol. Countless maple trees adorn the wide valley floor of the Eng Valley and are framed by the gray peaks of the Karwendel. Idyllic hiking trails take you from one valley to the other as far as the southern shore of Lake Achensee. On your last stage, you hike along Lake Achensee back to the starting point of your trip in Achenkirch on a trail full of panoramic views and a Caribbean feeling. This varied hiking tour can be completed at a moderate to challenging level, depending on your fitness and requirements. A nature experience that delights all the senses.

Itinerary / Stages

Individual arrival in Achenkirch
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Welcome to the largest lake in Tyrol — the Achensee.
Achenkirch — Demeljoch — Fall
Distanz: 17 km Höhe (+): 1160m Höhe (-): 1170m
In the morning, our transfer will take you to the starting point of the hike. First you cross a hidden gorge where the water thunders downhill. A beautiful path takes you further and further up until you can finally see Lake Sylvenstein. If you are looking for a sporting challenge, take in the summit of the Demeljoch and its magnificent panorama before descending to the quiet village of Fall. There you are in the immediate vicinity of the famous Sylvenstein Bridge, which crosses the lake. If the route over the mountains is too challenging for you, take a relaxed hike along the Sylvensteinsee lake to Fall.
Fall — Tölzer Hütte
Distanz: 12 km Höhe (+): 1080m Höhe (-): 40m
Today you start with a relaxed hike into the Krottenbach valley and follow the stream deeper and deeper into the valley. Again and again you cross rushing streams and marvel at thundering waterfalls — refreshment guaranteed. Enjoy the tranquillity of unspoilt nature on this little-used trail. The steep ascent to a mountain lake then follows at the idyllic head of the valley. The last section to the Tölzer Hütte is a relaxed walk. If you wish, you can climb up to the rewarding summit of the Schafreuter from there. Please note that you will need to bring your own sleeping bag for the overnight stay in the hut and that your luggage will not be transported to the hut today, but will be waiting for you in the next stage location.
Tölzer Hütte — Eng
Distanz: 6 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 910m
A beautiful path leads from the Tölzer Hütte into the valley and by bus through the Ahornboden with its panoramic mountain views to the Eng. Here you can take a short hike to the famous Engalmen. The many maple trees with the majestic rocky peaks in the background create an incredible backdrop that is typical of the Karwendel. For very experienced hikers with a head for heights and sure-footedness, there is the difficult variant, which leads over incredibly scenic, narrow paths on slopes and along a ridge past the Fleischbank into the valley.
Eng — Pertisau — Maurach
Distanz: 16 km Höhe (+): 740m Höhe (-): 970m
This morning you start your hike against a fantastic rocky backdrop, which takes you along panoramic paths through the Karwendel, first to the Lamsenjochsattel and finally to the Gramaialm. From here you can either take the nostalgia bus to Pertisau or continue on foot out of the valley. From Pertisau, take the bus or boat to your overnight accommodation in Maurach on the southern shore of Lake Achensee.
Maurach — Achenkirch
Distanz: 13 km Höhe (+): 120m Höhe (-): 130m
The last stage of your journey today takes you from Maurach along the shores of Lake Achensee via a scenic path back to Achenkirch. When the weather is fine, the water is a Caribbean turquoise and various bays invite you to take a dip. For experienced hikers with a head for heights and sure-footedness, the difficult variant via Seeberg- and Seekarspitze is ideal. The panoramic views of the mountains and Lake Achensee are beyond words.
Individual departure
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Unfortunately, your Karwendel experience ends today. If you would like to explore the region around Lake Achensee in more detail, we will be happy to extend your stay.
