Feuer und Eis partner tour

The Lechweg 10 days from Formarinsee to Füssen

from 1.198,- per person

Accompany the wonderful wild river Lech from its source at almost 1800m above sea level on its way through Austria to Füssen in the Allgäu. Between romantic alpine pastures, untamed nature and exciting thrills, you will experience the element of water as it has shaped the Lech Valley. And to emphasize the nature of this tour, your welcome package includes your own Lechweg natural soap from the Leovinus soap factory as a fragrant reminder of this unique experience.

Itinerary / Stages

Day 1
Individual arrival in Lech
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
You arrive relaxed in Lech am Arlberg. In Lech you will receive your welcome pack and travel documents.
Day 2
Lake Formarin — Lech
Distanz: 14 km Höhe (+): 190m Höhe (-): 620m
Start the day with a bus ride to Lake Formarin and thus to the source of the Lech. With an almost continuous gentle gradient, you will get in the mood for the next few days along this wonderful river landscape. The lush alpine landscape accompanies you on your way back to Lech am Arlberg.
Day 3
Lech — Lechleiten
Distanz: 14 km Höhe (+): 465m Höhe (-): 370m
Today’s stage takes you further north, partly on forest roads and partly on paths, always slightly above the river. You hike through forests and across meadows towards the village of Warth. Even in midsummer, you can still encounter snow on this section from time to time. Finally, with the help of a small suspension bridge, the trail leads over the Krumbach up to Lechleiten. Once here, take the bus to Holzgau to round off the day with a magnificent mountain panorama.
Day 4
Lechleiten — Holzgau
Distanz: 16 km Höhe (+): 130m Höhe (-): 565m
After a hearty breakfast, the first thing you do is head back to Lechleiten. Passing a practice climbing garden, you walk about 400 meters above the Lech through sparse coniferous forests before a wide forest path leads you down into the valley. You come across part of the Adlerweg trail (easily recognizable by the Adler signposts) and follow this long-distance hiking trail for a while until you finally come back to Holzgau through gentle forests.
Day 5
Holzgau — Elbigenalp
Distanz: 13 km Höhe (+): 425m Höhe (-): 490m
A head for heights is an absolute advantage on today’s stage. From Holzgau, the route leads to a spectacular suspension bridge that spans the Höhenbach gorge at a height of 110 meters. Alternatively, you can take the less swaying path along the Simms waterfall. In both cases you come to the Schiggen lookout point. The route continues with gentle ups and downs to the Schöne Aussicht rest area and along the Josef-Anton-Koch-Weg towards the village of Bach. And finally you stroll along wide forest paths to the stop for the night: Elbigenalp.
Day 6
Elbigenalp — Stanzach
Distanz: 21 km Höhe (+): 445m Höhe (-): 540m
During the first half of today’s stage, you hike almost continuously directly along the Lech on wide paths. In Häselgehr, the trail finally leads uphill to the Doserfall and along a panoramic path above the river towards Vorderhornbach. Passing through the village, you finally reach today’s stage destination of Stanzach.
Day 7
Stanzach — Weißenbach am Lech
Distanz: 14 km Höhe (+): 86m Höhe (-): 145m
From Stanzach, you continue today along the wide, gravelled stream bed on an almost level path. After yesterday’s long stage, today’s stage offers a gentle change of pace. During the hike, there are repeated opportunities to discover endangered species of Alpine river birds and rare plants. Finally, you reach the village center of Weißenbach am Lech.
Day 8
Weißenbach am Lech — Pflach
Distanz: 18 km Höhe (+): 550m Höhe (-): 600m
The day begins in a similar way to the previous one. You hike comfortably along the river on flat, wide paths. Shortly before Reutte, the challenge increases. As the name suggests, the Panorama Höhenweg lies at some height above the valley. The view of the Reutte basin and later the Frauensee lake make up for this before you head back down into the valley and through the Lech floodplains, past the bird adventure trail and into the municipality of Pflach.
Day 9
Pflach — Füssen
Distanz: 15 km Höhe (+): 720m Höhe (-): 750m
The last day of hiking challenges you once again. From Pflach, you begin a first ascent to the former Sternschanze fortress. After the magnificent view, you follow forest roads across the Tyrolean/Bavarian border to Alpsee, whose shore you follow. Along the way, first Hohenschwangau Castle and later Neuschwanstein appear in the distance. After you have turned off towards Füssen, the view of the Schwanensee lake offers another highlight and finally your route ends at the Lech Falls back on the river and in the romantic town of Füssen.
Day 10
