The Allgäu Cycle Tour connects six districts in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Tyrol and invites you not only to cycle from A to B, but to combine the start and finish points again and again to create a well-rounded experience. With a comprehensive, uniformly signposted network of paths, varied altitude profiles for all ability levels, a specially designated e‑bike region and numerous other quality features, the cycle route bears the 4‑star seal of the ADFC. It can be ridden in nine different variants, each unique in its own way, from enjoyable to challenging. Here we offer the variant that is spread over 9 days and thus 7 bike stages.

From Marktoberdorf onwards, the terrain becomes flatter and the character of the landscape slowly changes from Alpine foothills to idyllic Alpine foothills. This stage takes you into the western Allgäu and through the protected Wurzacher Ried, one of the largest intact raised bogs in Central Europe. The route alternates between small side roads, forest passages and pastureland. Along the way, there are views of the beginning Alpine chains in the distance. Wangen im Allgäu is a real gem: lovingly restored alleyways, many fountains, colorful facades and a lively old town invite you to take a stroll — a highlight of the tour.
Day 6
Wangen — Sonthofen
Distanz: 67 km Höhe (+): 830m Höhe (-): 640m
The Alps are approaching and the elevation profile becomes more athletic again. You cross the upper Allgäu with its typical green hills, clear streams and sections with great views. The closer you get to Sonthofen, the more alpine the scenery becomes. The stage is challenging, but the scenery is magnificent. Sonthofen is already in the middle of the mountains and is an ideal place for a well-earned break in a cozy Allgäu inn.
Day 7
Sonthofen — Nesselwang
Distanz: 59 km Höhe (+): 800m Höhe (-): 640m
This stage brings you even closer to the high mountains. It goes up and down through the southern Allgäu with fantastic panoramas, quiet valleys and small, quaint villages. Depending on the weather, the Allgäu Alps can be seen in all their glory.
