Feuer und Eis partner tour

Via Claudia Augusta — From Augsburg to Bolzano: classic

from 1.375,- per person

Out of the city and into nature! The cycle path leads from the local recreation area of the Augsburg Forest along the Lech river through the botanical treasure trove of the Lechtal heaths and passes the gentle hills of the Pfaffenwinkel nature region near Schongau to the Forggensee, Füssen’s bathtub. After a brief intermezzo with King Ludwig’s visions in his Neuschwanstein Castle, the cycle path follows the Lech past the Füssen Lech Falls and on into the Tyrolean Alps. From Reutte, an organized transfer takes you to Fernsteinsee Castle and the cycle path takes you through the picturesque Gurgltal valley to the fountain town of Imst and on to Landeck. A transfer takes you up the ascent to Nauders on the Reschen Pass. From Lake Reschen in South Tyrol, the Adige cycle path takes you along the playful river through the lush fruit-growing landscapes of the sun-drenched Vinschgau Valley and via the spa town of Merano to the lively commercial city of Bolzano.

Visiting the Roman provincial capital Augusta Vindelicorum
Augsburg — Landsberg
Distanz: 50 km Höhe (+): 461m Höhe (-): 312m
The name of the city of Augsburg goes back to the Roman provincial capital Augusta Vindelicorum, which was founded in 15 BC under Emperor Augustus. However, Augsburg became known as the Fugger city. A visit to the Fuggerei, the oldest social housing building in the world still in use today, is almost a must. The route to Landsberg has the motto “leisurely cycling on completely flat terrain”.
Landsberg — Schongau region
Distanz: 45 km Höhe (+): 404m Höhe (-): 309m
You can already make out the approaching Alps on the horizon. But first you can focus all your senses on experiencing the uniquely beautiful landscape of the Pfaffenwinkel region. Schongau awaits with its picturesque old town and the almost completely preserved town wall.
Schongau — Füssen/Schwangau region
Distanz: 40 km Höhe (+): 483m Höhe (-): 408m
After leaving Schongau, the route continues along the Lech towards Tyrol. Even before the border with Austria, the fairytale castle of Neuschwanstein awaits its visitors near Füssen.
Füssen/Schwangau — Imst
Distanz: 40 km Höhe (+): 225m Höhe (-): 280m
The route first leads from Füssen to Reutte. From there, we will take you over the Fernpass on an energy-saving transfer. From Fernstein Castle, you then cycle via Nassereith through the picturesque Gurgltal valley to Imst. A beery experience awaits you at Starkenberg Castle with its traditional private brewery.
Imst — Lake Reschen & Upper Vinschgau vacation region
Distanz: 55 km Höhe (+): 441m Höhe (-): 902m
Well fortified, you first cycle from Imst to the district capital Landeck. From Landeck, an organized transfer will take you to Nauders, where you will cross the border to Italy and thus the main Alpine ridge a little later at the Reschen Pass. Cycle past the Reschen reservoir with one of the most famous photo motifs in South Tyrol — the sunken church tower of Altgraun — downhill towards Mals. Enjoy your first evening in South Tyrol in the old alleyways of the village.
Vacation region Lake Resia & Upper Venosta Valley — Merano
Distanz: 65 km Höhe (+): 10m Höhe (-): 700m
Now it’s time to cross the entire Vinschgau Valley. The trail leads from around 1,200 m above sea level in Burgeis down to 350 m above sea level in Meran. You often follow the course of the Adige directly. From the starting point, this pleasure tour first leads down to Glurns, the smallest town in the Alps. Via the village of Lasa/Laas you then reach Naturno/Naturns and finally — past the striking Castelbello/Kastelbell Castle — the spa town of Merano/Meran. Relax here on an evening stroll along the Passer promenade.
Merano — Bolzano
Distanz: 40 km Höhe (+): 314m Höhe (-): 374m
There is much to marvel at along this route: the famous Schnatterpeck altar in the church in Niederlana, the highest church tower in South Tyrol in Terlan and numerous castles and ruins on both sides of the valley. The region also has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine: Asparagus in Terlan, tasty chestnuts in Nals and, last but not least, excellent wines have tempted many a palate. Finally, you reach Bolzano and can enjoy the unique southern flair of the city in the pedestrian zone.
