On this win­ter hiking tour in Alta Pus­te­ria you will admi­re the impo­sing moun­tain mas­sif of the Ses­to Dolo­mi­tes and the world-famous Three Peaks. It is not for not­hing that the Dolo­mi­tes have been declared a UNESCO World Heri­ta­ge Site. Expe­ri­ence the idyl­lic win­ter land­scape of the famous Ses­to Val­ley, the breath­ta­kin­gly beau­tiful Brai­es Val­ley and the tran­quil­li­ty and fresh air of the unspoilt high pla­teau of Pra­to Piaz­za. You hike on varied rou­tes, always with a magni­fi­cent pan­o­r­amic view of the Dolomites.

Itinerary / Stages

Arri­val in Alta Pus­te­ria (Villabassa/Toblach)
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Indi­vi­du­al arri­val at the start­ing hotel in Alta Pus­te­ria. Free, unguard­ed public par­king available near the hotel. 
Inner­feld­tal — Drei Schus­ter­hüt­te — Sexten
Distanz: 15 km Höhe (+): 550m Höhe (-): 0m
A trans­fer takes you from Niederdorf/Toblach into the Inner­feld­tal val­ley to Sex­ten. At the start, you hike across the win­try larch mea­dows to the Drei­schus­ter­hüt­te hut at the foot of the migh­ty Dolo­mi­te peaks. Tas­te the spe­cial­ty of the house: warm apple cakes and enjoy the view of the Drei­schus­ter­spit­ze and the Schwa­ben­al­pen­kopf befo­re retur­ning to Sexten. 
Cir­cu­lar hike Sex­ten — Kreuz­berg­pass — Nemesalm
Distanz: 14 km Höhe (+): 500m Höhe (-): 0m
Take public trans­port to the Kreuz­berg Pass and return to Ses­to after the tour. Immer­se yours­elf in the Ses­to Dolo­mi­tes, with the Zwöl­fer­ko­fel in front of you and the Drei­schus­ter­spit­ze to the right. From the Kreuz­berg­pass you hike com­for­ta­b­ly on a rol­led path to the Nemes Alm. After a short rest, you return to the Kreuz­berg Pass and your hotel in Sesto/Sexten.
Ses­to — Brücke­le — Stol­la — Pra­to Piazza 
Distanz: 6 km Höhe (+): 500m Höhe (-): 0m
In the mor­ning, a trans­fer will take you to the start­ing point of the hike at Gast­hof Brücke­le. The hiking trail leads you along the dre­a­my Stol­la stream through a quiet val­ley to the hut of the same name. The migh­ty Hohe Gaisl towers abo­ve you. The val­ley soon opens up and you reach the Plät­z­wie­se high plateau. 
Cir­cu­lar hike Pra­to Piaz­za — Strudelkopf
Distanz: 10 km Höhe (+): 325m Höhe (-): 0m
Start­ing from Pra­to Piaz­za, you hike to the Stru­del­kopf. The ascent is alre­a­dy cha­rac­te­ri­zed by the breath­ta­king pan­ora­ma of the peaks of the Brai­es Dolo­mi­tes, such as the Hohe Gaisl or the See­ko­fel. The Stru­del­kopf offers one of the most beau­tiful pan­o­r­amic views in the Dolo­mi­tes of the peaks of the Three Peaks, the Cadi­ni group, Mon­te Cris­tal­lo, the Tofa­na and the Marmolada. 
Pra­to Piaz­za Brai­es — Lake Brai­es — Dobbiaco
Distanz: 11 km Höhe (+): 440m Höhe (-): 0m
A trans­fer takes you to the start­ing point of the stage in Brai­es. You then hike through the snow-cover­ed forest of the Brai­es Val­ley to Lake Brai­es and from the­re on to the Grün­wal­alm. After the hike, take the public bus to Villabassa/Dobbiaco.
Villabassa/Toblach — Misu­ri­na — Auron­zo hut
Distanz: 14 km Höhe (+): 675m Höhe (-): 0m
A trans­fer will take you to Misu­ri­na in the mor­ning. You start your hike sur­roun­ded by moun­ta­ins. You will soon reach Lake Antor­no. The trail takes you along the sun­ny side of the snow-cover­ed moun­tain road to the Auron­zo hut, loca­ted on the south-wes­tern side of the world-famous Three Peaks. The ter­race offers a stun­ning pan­ora­ma of the Ampez­zo Dolo­mi­tes. A trans­fer will then take you back to the hotel, whe­re you can review the enti­re hiking tour.

By car: Via the Bren­ner high­way (A22) to Bri­xen, exit Fran­zens­fes­te, Pus­ter­tal — through the Pus­ter­tal (sta­te road SS49) to Nie­der­dorf or Tob­lach, depen­ding on the arri­val hotel or via the Fel­ber­tau­ern road to Lienz in East Tyrol and on to Ita­ly in the Hoch­pus­ter­tal (Nie­der­dorf or Tob­lach, depen­ding on the arri­val hotel). By train: To Inns­bruck via the Bren­ner Pass to Fran­zens­fes­te. From here to Alta Pus­te­ria (train sta­ti­on Vil­la­bassa or Dob­bia­co, depen­ding on your hotel of depar­tu­re). Time­ta­bles at: www.deutschebahn.de, www.oebb.at, www.trenitalia.com. By pla­ne: Low cost flights to Tre­vi­so Air­port, Venice Mar­co Polo. Tour cha­rac­ter
The rou­te has been desi­gned in such a way that it is sui­ta­ble for both spor­ty and less expe­ri­en­ced hikers. Snow­s­hoes are hel­pful on some stages, but not abso­lut­e­ly necessary. 
Equip­ment
Taking snow­s­hoes and hiking poles with you can be hel­pful on some stages. The­se can also be hired on site on request, as can snow chains for your boots. 
Other notes
To ensu­re a stress-free start to the trip, we recom­mend arri­ving at the start­ing point by ear­ly evening in most cases. Some tours start as ear­ly as mid­day, in which case we recom­mend arri­ving the day befo­re and will be hap­py to book an extra night for you at the same time. The indi­vi­du­al return jour­ney takes place on the last day of the tour. The kilo­me­ters are appro­xi­ma­te and may dif­fer from the actu­al kilo­me­ters cover­ed. This tour is not sui­ta­ble for peo­p­le with redu­ced mobility. 
Mini­mum num­ber of participants
If a mini­mum num­ber of par­ti­ci­pan­ts is requi­red for the tour to take place, this is sta­ted under Pri­ces and ser­vices. If the mini­mum num­ber of par­ti­ci­pan­ts is not rea­ched, we reser­ve the right to can­cel the trip up to four weeks befo­re the date of arri­val.
