At Lake Tegern­see, the water glis­tens as a gent­le mist rises in the win­ter sun. From the­re, your rou­te takes you through the Weiß­ach flood­plains towards Lake Achen­see, the lar­gest lake in Tyrol. You con­ti­nue along the tur­quoi­se shim­me­ring Achen­see into the Zil­ler­tal, which is wide­ly known as a win­ter sports para­di­se. A spe­cial high­light is the pan­o­r­amic hike from the Reit­her­ko­gel: you des­cend lei­su­re­ly to Fügen on the pan­o­r­amic road and enjoy breath­ta­king views of the sur­roun­ding moun­ta­ins. From Fügen, your path leads along the Zil­ler, some­ti­mes clo­se to the water, some­ti­mes on pan­o­r­amic paths abo­ve the val­ley to Mayr­ho­fen. The lively atmo­sphe­re of a popu­lar win­ter sports resort awaits you the­re, per­fect for enjoy­ing and obser­ving the win­ter hust­le and bust­le. The dai­ly hikes take bet­ween three and five hours and can be shor­ten­ed as requi­red — ide­al if the thought of a soot­hing visit to the ther­mal baths seems more temp­ting on some days.

Itinerary / Stages

Day 1
Jour­ney to the Tegernsee
Distanz: 0 km Höhe (+): 0m Höhe (-): 0m
Lake Tegern­see wel­co­mes you with spar­k­ling water and the maje­s­tic moun­ta­ins in the back­ground. Stroll along the pro­me­na­de and let the idyl­lic atmo­sphe­re get you in the mood for your hiking trip. 
Day 2
Along the Tegern­see High Trail from Gmund to Bad Wiessee
Distanz: 15 km Höhe (+): 140m Höhe (-): 160m
Take the bus to Gmund. From the­re, hike high abo­ve Lake Tegern­see on the pan­o­r­amic high-level trail to Tegern­see. The­re it is worth stop­ping off at the Bräu­st­überl to warm up. From here you can eit­her take the bus back to your accom­mo­da­ti­on or hike via Rot­tach-Egern to Bad Wiessee. 
Day 3
On woo­ded paths across the bor­der to Achenkirch
Distanz: 19 km Höhe (+): 320m Höhe (-): 270m
Our trans­fer will take you to the glass­works in Kreuth this mor­ning. From here you hike on easy forest paths across the bor­der to Achen­wald. From here you can eit­her take the bus to your desti­na­ti­on or hike past the sub­urbs to Achenkirch. 
Day 4
Along the Achen­see to Mau­rach and Pertisau
Distanz: 7 km Höhe (+): 40m Höhe (-): 70m
Take the bus to Lake Achen­see. From the­re, you walk along the lake and enjoy the fan­ta­stic view of the sur­roun­ding moun­tain ran­ges. At the sou­thern tip, the water is par­ti­cu­lar­ly shal­low and glows a bright tur­quoi­se, almost as if you had rea­ched the Carib­be­an. On the way, it’s worth making a detour to the ther­mal baths to relax brief­ly. After­wards you can deci­de: Hike direct­ly to your hotel in Mau­rach or con­ti­nue the tour on the oppo­si­te bank to Per­tis­au. The­re, the Tyro­lean Stone Oil Muse­um invi­tes you to gain an exci­ting insight into a tra­di­tio­nal Tyro­lean art of heal­ing. At the end, the bus takes you com­for­ta­b­ly back to Maurach. 
Day 5
Mau­rach — Pan­o­r­amic hike Reit­her­ko­gel — Fügen
Distanz: 13 km Höhe (+): 610m Höhe (-): 710m
Our trans­fer will take you to the idyl­lic Alp­bach­tal val­ley. Take the cable car up to the Reit­her­ko­gel and start from the­re on a pan­o­r­amic trail downhill to Fügen in the Zil­ler­tal. Along the way, you can enjoy the breath­ta­king view of the snow-cover­ed peaks of the Zil­ler­tal Alps. 
Day 6
Fügen — Aschau in the Zillertal
Distanz: 12 km Höhe (+): 90m Höhe (-): 50m
Today you hike from Fügen on a flat and rela­xed rou­te along the Zil­ler through the val­ley flo­or of the Zil­ler­tal, sur­roun­ded by wide mea­dows and a fan­ta­stic moun­tain pan­ora­ma. Along the way, you will have the oppor­tu­ni­ty to dis­co­ver water­falls on short detours and expe­ri­ence natu­re up clo­se. As you hike not far from the rail­road tracks, the­re are always oppor­tu­ni­ties to shor­ten the tour from time to time. From Aschau train sta­ti­on, you now tra­vel to Fügen, whe­re you will spend the night. 
Day 7
Aschau im Zil­ler­tal — Mayrhofen
Distanz: 15 km Höhe (+): 220m Höhe (-): 140m
Depen­ding on how far you want to hike today, you can take the train back to Aschau or alter­na­tively to Zell or Hipp­ach. First you con­ti­nue to fol­low the Zil­ler, later you take a high trail with won­derful views into the well-known win­ter sports resort of Mayr­ho­fen. It’s worth plan­ning some time here to take a lei­su­re­ly stroll through the vil­la­ge and enjoy the alpi­ne atmosphere. 
Day 8
Indi­vi­du­al departure

If the mini­mum num­ber of par­ti­ci­pan­ts is not rea­ched, we reser­ve the right to can­cel the trip up to four weeks befo­re the arri­val date. We recom­mend that you do not orga­ni­ze your arri­val and depar­tu­re until after this dead­line has passed.
Other notes
To ensu­re a stress-free start to the trip, we recom­mend arri­ving at the start­ing point by ear­ly evening in most cases. Some tours start as ear­ly as mid­day, in which case we recom­mend arri­ving the day befo­re and will be hap­py to book an extra night for you at the same time. The indi­vi­du­al return jour­ney takes place on the last day of the tour. The kilo­me­ters are appro­xi­ma­te and may dif­fer from the actu­al kilo­me­ters cover­ed. This tour is not sui­ta­ble for peo­p­le with redu­ced mobility.

Arri­val
BY CAR: FROM THE NORTH: Take the A8 Munich-Salz­burg high­way to the Holz­kir­chen exit and then the B318/B307 to Tegern­see. FROM THE SOUTH: Eit­her via the Inn Val­ley, the Achen Pass and the B307 or the Inn Val­ley high­way, the A8 Munich-Salz­burg high­way, to the Irschen­berg exit. Con­ti­nue via the B472 and B318 to Tegern­see. FLIGHT: Munich Salz­burg Inns­bruck RAILWAY: From Munich main sta­ti­on take the BRB to Gmund or Tegern­see, bus or cab to the hotel.

The hikes are on tech­ni­cal­ly easy paths. In most cases, the stages can also be shor­ten­ed if desired. 
Important infor­ma­ti­on on win­ter tours
This is a win­ter hike. Depen­ding on the snow con­di­ti­ons, paths can be very icy or snow-cover­ed. For this reason, we recom­mend wea­ring so-cal­led Grö­deln (spikes for icy sur­faces) over your shoes in such cases to mini­mi­ze the risk of slipping.
