Your vacation should be the best time of the year. On the one hand, you invest a lot of time in planning in advance, and on the other hand, you often invest a lot of money. The news that the responsible tour operator is insolvent therefore often causes sleepless nights for the holidaymakers concerned.
However, the legislator has taken measures — in the form of laws — to reduce the effects of such insolvency for you as a customer. The most important element of this is probably the travel insurance certificate.
What is a travel insurance certificate?
The travel insurance certificate — sometimes also referred to as the travel price insurance certificate — is proof of existing insolvency insurance with tour operators. This usually inconspicuous document guarantees that the respective insurance company will reimburse the travel prices paid in the event of the tour operator’s inability to pay or insolvency and, if necessary, ensure that you can travel home. Tour operators of package tours have been obliged to issue such a travel insurance policy since 1994, as stipulated in Section 651k of the German Civil Code (BGB).
As a customer of Feuer und Eis Touristik GmbH, you will receive a travel price insurance policy from R+V Versicherung for all trips booked through us.
