How long is the dead­line for taking out tra­vel can­cel­la­ti­on insu­rance and packa­ges with tra­vel can­cel­la­ti­on insu­rance for one-off trips?

Tra­vel can­cel­la­ti­on insu­rance and all-round care­free cover

Imme­dia­te­ly upon boo­king the trip, but no later than 14 days after receipt of the boo­king con­fir­ma­ti­on. If the boo­king is made within 14 days befo­re the start of the trip/tour, insu­rance can only be taken out on the day of boo­king, at the latest within the next 3 working days 

How long is the clo­sing peri­od for annu­al pro­ducts with can­cel­la­ti­on cost insurance?

All trips that take place during the insu­red peri­od are insu­red. Can­cel­la­ti­on cost insu­rance covers all trips boo­ked within the insu­red peri­od. Trips boo­ked befo­re the start of the insu­rance are insu­red if the­re are at least 30 days bet­ween the start of the con­tract and the sche­du­led start of the trip. Trips for which the­re are less than 30 days bet­ween boo­king and the sche­du­led start of the trip are insu­red if the term of the annu­al insu­rance beg­ins imme­dia­te­ly on the day the trip is boo­ked, at the latest within the next 3 working days. 

How many days can be insu­red?

All-round care­free cover and all-round care­free annu­al cover can be taken out for trips of up to 45 days (up to a maxi­mum of 90 days).

When is an excess requi­red and how high is it?

With ERGO tra­vel insu­rance, cus­to­mers can also take out all pro­ducts wit­hout an excess. The fol­lo­wing con­di­ti­ons app­ly to tariffs with an excess: 

  • Tra­vel can­cel­la­ti­on insu­rance
    20 % of the reim­b­ursable loss per insu­red event, at least € 25 per person
  • Trip inter­rup­ti­on insu­rance
    20 % of the reim­b­ursable loss per insu­red event, at least € 25 per person

    € 100,- per insu­red event
  • Lug­ga­ge insu­rance
    € 100,- per insu­red event


When can I book the couple/family rate?

Cou­ple: 2 adults are con­side­red a cou­ple .

For indi­vi­du­al tra­vel insurance:

A fami­ly is defi­ned as a maxi­mum of 2 adults, regard­less of rela­ti­onship, and child­ren up to and inclu­ding the age of 25.

Child­ren are:

  • Own child­ren
  • Grand­child­ren
  • Up to 5 other child­ren tra­ve­ling with you

The­re does not have to be a joint residence.

Important: All insu­red per­sons must be lis­ted by name. The tra­vel pri­ce is the total pri­ce of the fami­ly / couple 

The fami­ly tariff for annu­al tra­vel insu­rance also appli­es:
Child­ren tra­ve­ling alo­ne who are not your own child­ren or grand­child­ren are not insured.
